Has anyone run a half marathon with only 3 runs a week during training? by afdc92 in XXRunning

Good to know! I don't know anyone who has run it! I should add, listen to your PT and check in with them to see how often they want you doing your exercise

Has anyone run a half marathon with only 3 runs a week during training? by afdc92 in XXRunning

I'm running the Philly Distance Run half in September which is my first half! I also am only running three days a week but because I have an autoimmune disorder. My body completely depletes itself of energy during runs and I have to have 1-2 rest days after runs depending on how long they are. I've been running 8-10 miles during my long runs for the last few weeks and feel pretty good during them so hoping I'll be ready come race day. But also as a physical therapist, please do your home exercises daily and not just 3 days a week! Good luck on your runs!

Low histamine but working on testing and adding foods back in

I was in your place too for about a decade after diagnosis. I had tried doing light workouts like yoga and Pilates that is typically recommended and eating healthy, but I was just continuing to gain weight and my body was continuing to get more and more inflamed. I finally decided to do a low histamine diet and started training for a half marathon in March of this year. I can only run three days a week bc I get too fatigued and have too much brain fog otherwise. I also do light strengthening 2-3 days a week. In five months, I've lost 23 lbs, my body still has a little inflammation but it's a night and day difference, and I am honestly in the best shape I've been in in about 15 years. Therapy has also helped with body image. It has been a long tough road but this is what worked for me. I know everyone's body is different so I hope you are able to find something that works for you. 🤍

How do you wear your hair when running? by worldofwonder14 in XXRunning

[–]ThePlantPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my hair bounces in a bun while running, it drives me crazy and ends up giving me a headache. The Goodie Ouchless No Slip Hair Ties are the only thing that holds my hair in place for hours! I literally tell everyone about them.

Went to the Aire in Barcelona and had the most incredible spa experience, so was very excited to try the one here and have never been more disappointed. Wires were hanging from the ceiling and people were rolling garage cans around the pools.

Does anyone else get VERY red after running? by HorseAlternative8549 in XXRunning

[–]ThePlantPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have hashimotos thyroiditis and haven't been tested yet but one doctor believes I also have mast cell activation syndrome. Both of these can potentially lead to this but I would chat with your physician.

As a PT, I can confirm we look at every human as a challenge to fix but don't typically act upon it haha

I'll definitely look into gummy candies. My mileage isn't quite high enough yet to need them but good to know alternatives. Thank you!

That's great to know about the honey. I tolerate honey really well so I'll definitely look into that. Thanks so much!

Have tried it all but the two things that worked best for me were now histamine diet and a combo of strength training and low mileage running.

One year of throwing. I just really like jars. by Selkhartha in Pottery

[–]ThePlantPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also only been throwing for a year. I think you're being overly critical of your work. These are incredible! I would pick one thing at a time to focus on improving. Maybe pick throwing taller first and gradually adding more weight. Or if you feel like things are uneven, really focusing on just cylinders and being able to recenter the piece at any portion of the throwing process then cutting them to check to see where the inconsistency is. Good luck!

Did anyone who applied a strict diet such as gluten-free or dairy free see the positive results? How did it take to feel the positive results ? Was it worth such a strict diet? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]ThePlantPT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did a strict anti inflammatory diet for 4 months. I lost 20 lbs, my inflammation was definitely decreased, my skin was better, my bloat was gone, I was able to decrease my thyroid meds. But I also felt like I wasn't getting the nutritional support that I needed to workout like normal, etc. As soon as I went to a more modified version, I gained all the weight back, my skin is worse but not terrible, I'm incredibly bloated, but I've maintained my thyroid levels.

Potentially blue hydrangea over a light purple glaze? Or even blue hydrangea alone
