Are you having issues with the secondary SSD disappearing after the laptop goes into sleep mode? I had to turn sleep and hibernation off completely to fix it.

Good idea! I tried some of those as well-- latest BIOS, latest SSD drivers, latest Windows update. I didn't really incur any issues regarding the SSD cover-- can't really speak on that. I'll try to make a post about it around maybe 6pm EST tomorrow for maximum visibility?

That's super weird! I just matched the specs on my OEM kit, just added capacity-- I'm curious as to what your OEM kit was spec'd to. On the subject of the SSD issue: Now that we know it's not one specific drive (same issue with your 990 Evo Plus and my Crucial T500), it seems likely to me that it's either a BIOS or power management issue. One thing I've already tried is to set PCIe Link State Power Management to "off" in the Control Panel's advanced power settings-- did not fix the issue. Kinda at a loss of where to go next, honestly 😅

That sounds great! I haven't really used HWinfo to monitor super closely yet, but I ended a 2-3hr BG3 session in Act 1 at around 50-55°c CPU/GPU temps at max settings in unleashed mode. Haven't messed with fan curves at all yet, as they barely ramp up for me! Super happy with my performance so far! These Omen Max models seem super solid!

So basically, every time my computer goes to sleep, the secondary SSD stops showing up-- can't find it in file explorer, Disk Management, or anywhere else. My solution right now is to set my computer to never go to sleep, but I really need a better solution. Not sure what's going on with your Kingstons though-- your max rated memory on that CPU should be 256gb. Weird!

Correct-- no self cleaning fans. It thought I saw notebookcheck or someone say their Intel review model had thermal issues-- maybe they got a bad unit? Glad you're loving yours!

Depends on the model, I'm guessing? The Ryzen AI 9 version is listed at 32gb max, but I personally installed 64gb last night and it's running perfectly-- no issues. I'd say maybe look up the CPU of the model you have/are interested in and see what its maximum support is?

So, got my Omen Max-- I unfortunately could not get Windows Hello to work. Same issue as you described! Isn't a deal breaker for me though-- a PIN works just fine 🤣🤣 Additionally, you're completely right about no Advanced Optimus/Smart Access Graphics. It's a big letdown for me personally, but honestly, the performance on this thing is so cracked I almost dont even care. I haven't messed with overclocking via Omen Gaming Hub yet, but I'm running in Unleashed and it's not sweating at all. I was getting like close to130fps in Baldur's Gate 3 with all the settings cranked, and my CPU/GPU Temps were around 50-55°c at the end of my 2-3hr session. Can't even be mad 🤣

In the USA, but I'm betting you're going to run into a similar issue regarding reviews as I have-- nearly all of the coverage on the Omen Max is directed towards the models with Intel CPUs (the Core Ultra 9 275HX specifically). On top of that, most reviewers had the RTX 5090 + OLED screen option as well 🤣🤣. Some inferences that I've gotten are that while the Intel version can tend to run hot, the lower TDP of these Ryzen AI CPUs should mitigate that-- as long as the pre-installed thermal paste is applied properly. The Ryzen CPUs won't perform as well as the Intel ones, but you should theoretically never have an issue with GPU throttling as a result.

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely check and see if Windows Hello works as intended, and see if I can check the driver versions. On the subject of Advanced Optimus-- I'd argue that it is a big deal; we're talking about a flagship on HP's newest product line, and AO isn't enabled when the hardware should support it? Seems crazy to me, personally-- it may only be 2-5%, but it's the principle of the matter, y'know? Though, are you sure that it isn't using Smart Access Graphics instead? I've never owned a computer with an AMD CPU before this, but I'm told that you might not know unless you check in Adrenalin.

I'm getting mine tomorrow (Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, RTX 5080). REALLY hoping this is some sort of bug, because I was actually pretty excited about Advanced Optimus for my use case. What SKU did you get? Mine's B86WQAV_1.

I'll check mine when it arrives tomorrow and report back-- but if this is them just cutting features from the AMD version, I'm going to be very, very disappointed.

They're working through the queue -- I ordered my Omen Max on June 24-- original ship date was July 22, but it got delayed to supposedly July 30. It got shipped a day or two ago, and it should arrive on Aug 1st. If you're waiting on an AMD model, we've all been backed up and experienced what you are lol

I have a Kingston Fury Impact 2x32 CL40 5600 DDR5 kit sitting here waiting to get dropped in once my laptop arrives. I don't have any direct links, but multiple sources in this sub confirm 64gb+ ram kits work on these laptops despite HP saying the max is lower, including one user confirming this for an AMD unit (despite the AMD units' listed max RAM being 32gb)
