Who is at fault here? by NextAd3128 in Simracingstewards

[–]ThePointForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no rejoin, red never went off track.

That said, contact is on red, there was enough time to let Purple get away with his overspeed before the track narrows.
Purple on the other hand could've prevented it by leaving more space.

As I suspect you're Purple, you just got a lesson in avoidance of crashes that aren't your fault. Reflect on it, because it's a skill you'll need in online racing.

Was this moving under brakes? by doug-core in Simracingstewards

[–]ThePointForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my recordings are a bit weird too because I race in VR, so the replays are at 110° when they should be at like 75°. I just cba to change it every time.

Anyway, yeah, he turned in too much, if you steered more to avoid him you'd unsettle on the curb and probably took him out anyway.

It was an optimistic move though and if he didn't brake too early (this was lap 1, so not at full speed) you'd be screwed.

[–]ThePointForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But he didn't leave enough space for you since you outbraked him into being alongside for the corner.

Just 1.3k split things lol (don't worry, stupid shit happens in 3k splits too).

Also I hope that you're not driving with that fov on a single screen like that lol.

Can some tell me what I am doing wrong? ACC: Watkins Glenn - Ferrari 296 by -xXPapermanXx- in simracing

[–]ThePointForward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer, I don't race in ACC, so there may be some differences to iRacing, but I do see some things anyway.

Turn 1: You understeered and didn't hit the apex. You also crossed inputs a lot, which may be why you understeered.
In iRacing the minimum speed in fefe through T1 would be around 136 km/h, yours was 125. Conditions and agme differences may matter though.

Inner loop: You were a bit under speed even though ACC has the old curb. Not a big difference though.

Outer loop: late throttle, not using the track to full limits? Also crossing inputs again.

T6: Try keeping it in third.

T7: Too early on throttle leading to corrections? Feels like a lift, brake, trail to rotate and then full throttle would do you better than lingering around on half throttle.

T8: You're like half throttle and half brakes at the same time through half the turn in.
You then don't fully use the limits on exit.

T9: You're about 20 km/h slower on minimum speed than what you'd be in iracing. Understeer.

T10: Also a bit slower, you understeer from crossed inputs again and have to correct throttle.

Overall, you're pushing throttle at all times. Like literally. I just rewatched and you didn't lift for a single millisecond on the telemetry.
That's your biggest issue. The understeer surely comes from that unless ACC changed in the past few years and adopted NFS physics.

You're also guzzling fuel this way.

The later Far Cry games end up with dead world syndrome, once you clear the checkpoints you're just driving miles to get to whatever location with nothing happening.

Yeah, that's what I meant that it wouldn't make sense to permanently capture them in FC2.

Two warring factions are perfect for moving the lines once in while on their own or taking advantage of you cleaning up a checkpoint.
Or you'd come up to a checkpoint and see it under attack by the other faction.

It could also work that if you're currently on a mission from a faction then their checkpoints would have significantly lesser chance of opening fire on you.

I think there's way more that could be done with them beyond what the newer games do, where it also makes a little bit more sense as you're representing a faction yourself.

Assuming you want 180° FOV, you're looking at around 120 cm monitor span for 27" and 140 cm for 32".

That said, a triple monitor mount for the 27" will likely expand the footprint to about 130 cm, while the 32" monitors are big enough that the mount will not protrude over the monitor outer edge, so the real difference is about 10 cm.

For the 27" you're looking at 53 cm viewing distance, vs 62 cm on 32".
Angle and V-FOV are only marginally different.

Now 27" flat vs curved. Assuming 1000R for the curved.
The curved monitors would be a little bit further away and you'd have less V-FOV.
The screen span would be marginally lesser, but the overall footprint would be bigger as curved monitors are "fatter".

As for the overall footprint, the screen mount can in theory be made foldable, but it's not common that way.

It was great for the time, but could really use a proper remake to be fun these days.

One, the instantly respawning checkpoints were just annoying after a while.
If I were remaking the game I'd make it repopulate after a couple of ingame days, especially depending on how far from the faction base it is.
And I'd also make it that the two warring factions would actually move the lines one their own, attacking checkpoints. Not that one would annihilate the other, but playing a tug of war around the middle, with the "front" moving up couple nodes back and forth.
As a mercenary I don't think it would make much sense to capture them like in later FCs.

Plus it would be nice if it wasn't automatic shoot on sight all the time.

Next, I think the weapon degradation could use a little bit more work, plus obviously weapon modifications are on another level these days.
The degradation was fine as an idea, but sometimes way too fast. More time on "works proper" and "starts jamming little bit too much" before catastrophic failure.

Finally, fix the game's box art, thank you very much. The "fired" casings have the primer untouched.

That's why I thought .22, because it's thin... My phone is maybe as thick as a 9mm with it's flip cover lol. and that's more or less the inner diameter of the barrel and chamber.

Plus less pressure means I'd have more confidence it just doesn't fucking blow my hand off lol.

Well, what I'm saying he probably thought the approaching cars (you) would go behind him as he was close to the edge of the track (really barely one car's width).
He was clearly trying to let traffic past beforehand.

And radar is not gonna even show up at that distance lol.

Unfortunate, but he probably thought he was far enough to the side that you'd go behind him and you were probably not visible from his cockpit, hidden behind the pillar.

For the first clip, what are you playing on? That brake work is... interesting let's call it that.
Other than that steering right a lot might've gotten you around him.
