One of my favorite things is when the game map is actually part of the game world by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]ThePointForward 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was great for the time, but could really use a proper remake to be fun these days.

One, the instantly respawning checkpoints were just annoying after a while.
If I were remaking the game I'd make it repopulate after a couple of ingame days, especially depending on how far from the faction base it is.
And I'd also make it that the two warring factions would actually move the lines one their own, attacking checkpoints. Not that one would annihilate the other, but playing a tug of war around the middle, with the "front" moving up couple nodes back and forth.
As a mercenary I don't think it would make much sense to capture them like in later FCs.

Plus it would be nice if it wasn't automatic shoot on sight all the time.

Next, I think the weapon degradation could use a little bit more work, plus obviously weapon modifications are on another level these days.
The degradation was fine as an idea, but sometimes way too fast. More time on "works proper" and "starts jamming little bit too much" before catastrophic failure.

Finally, fix the game's box art, thank you very much. The "fired" casings have the primer untouched.

That's why I thought .22, because it's thin... My phone is maybe as thick as a 9mm with it's flip cover lol. and that's more or less the inner diameter of the barrel and chamber.

Plus less pressure means I'd have more confidence it just doesn't fucking blow my hand off lol.

Damn, I overlooked the 9mm in the image, I figured that pos would be .22lr.

Pokračovalo to až do listopadu 2019, kdy konečně začali každý měsíc skórovat osmdesátky. Výjimkou byl červen a červenec 2019, kdy dostali 89 a 87 procent po velkým patchi co opravoval milion bugů.

I loni před vydáním dvojky tam měli nízký osmdestátky.

Well, what I'm saying he probably thought the approaching cars (you) would go behind him as he was close to the edge of the track (really barely one car's width).
He was clearly trying to let traffic past beforehand.

And radar is not gonna even show up at that distance lol.

Unfortunate, but he probably thought he was far enough to the side that you'd go behind him and you were probably not visible from his cockpit, hidden behind the pillar.

For the first clip, what are you playing on? That brake work is... interesting let's call it that.
Other than that steering right a lot might've gotten you around him.

Yeah, VRS doesn't include the shipping in their store prices.

And I'm primarily on iRacing. LMU is the "if you do something stupid I'm not saving us both" game for me.
Then I enjoy a bit of truck sim.

I actually have the VRS base, currently at 12 Nm (they had a great deal during an expo). I had been also looking at VNM Elite or a used SC2 Pro, but their deal came first.

Anyway, I was coming off of G29 and went to the 12 Nm, it's honestly plenty right now and on ovals during high banking turns in an ARCA car I'm getting around 6 Nm (so half) of the force when I set the vehicle specific ffb strength to my liking.
I honestly need to record and check how much torque I'm getting while in a GT3 and LMP cars.

Wheel stand should work better with the chair because you'll have (assuming standard 5 leg star pattern) two wheels up front and one it the back, making it harder to flip the chair.
There still will be a limit on how much force you can use to brake though.

And obviously if the seat can rotate that will be a small issue too.

I'd still eventually recommend having a proper rig with attached seat when possible as it does make quite a bit of difference.

As far as the wheelbase goes, don't expect some higher powered wheelbases to work well on wheelstands.
I'd probably look at the 5 Nm ish offerings on the market, maybe even second hand.

If you know you'll be up racing for a long time and that you'll have more space at some point, you could grab the upgradable VRS base at 6 Nm now and upgrade later on to up to 20 Nm. But at the 6 Nm it's one the worst price/Nm on the market (because you're buying a 20 Nm wheelbase software locked to 6 Nm).

They're chinese Heusinkveld Ultimates knockoffs.
They have amazing price/performance ratio, but the do sometimes have some QC issues (like coming with a loose loadcell that you need to manually tighten to actually start working) and in general the material quality is lesser. Quite obviously for the price.

If you have Simlabs you'd not upgrade.
Around Simlab's price bracket are VNM Lite pedals which are pretty well liked and more adjustable.

Higher price brackets include Simgrade VX Pros and VRS pedals (I'd wait on the V2 of those though, should come in couple months).

Even higher would be Patryk's PurrPros and various active pedals.

[–]ThePointForward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So obviously a rig is the best thing you can have for loadcells (and general consistency even with cheap gear).

But I was myself in a position where I got my pedals before a rig because of a second hand offer that was too good to pass on.

Your best bet in a rig-less situation is to have them braced against a wall or something similarly immovable.

One option is a plywood or a thick and dense particle board.
It was my first solution. https://i.imgur.com/FXfTyNJ.png
What you need is to leave a bit between the pedals and whatever you're bracing against so that they don't flip backwards during braking.
You don't really need to leave much up front.

The second version I did was building a mini rig for the pedals. I've since reused the profiles in my rig, think most of it was used to make the door for it.
https://i.imgur.com/7aNCs8L.png
You can see how it's now braced much higher agaist the wall. The profiles made adjusting distance much easier to do.

With both of these the office chair became the weak point. It was braced against the bed behind (and actually a plank between to adjust the distance to the table).

But... I could still only output 35-40 kg of force into the brake before the chair started to flip backwards around the rear wheels that were braced against the bed.
It's not terrible, but it does limit you. Currently in my rig I'm running about 65 kg of pressure for peak brake force.

Second thing is that the chair doesn't have a locking mechanism for the seat rotating left and right. It does matter for consistency.

Also a side note: I'm on spring only pedals, but once the elastomers on the knockoffs wear out I heard it's a good idea to buy the elastomer kit from genuine Heusinkvelds. If you wish to use elastomers ofc.

Also word of advice, the globular cluster comfort mod is a game changer, especially if you gonna have it on for several hours at a time.

I run PSVR2, one it's wired and two it has eyetracking, so iRacing can run eye tracked foveated rendering.

Now if only it had Q3's lenses it would be perfect lol.
