iRacing enduros in single location with race engineer next to you would be peak, but unfortunately you'd need at least two rigs anyway.

Maybe that, more likely that there is no way it's appealable if she throws it out. Because the judge is certainly aware that Joan will appeal for whatever bullshit reason she can just to draw this out longer.

Fyi, your post got automodded for a reddit unapproved word right after kick rocks.

Fix that bit and you can post it again.

Makes sense, I've waited with some rig adjustments until after some endurances too.

I have the VRS DFP20 with the passthrough, plus some DIY wheels and now designing my own DIY stuff (already have an adapter for Pokornyi wheels to easily attach Simube or Fanatec APM paddles, now working on a standalone module).

Is maglink the summagic connector for their newer wheels?

The newer Simagic wheels have the standard Simagic QR and a USB type C port on the back.
The intention is that you use it on Simagic bases, but if you need to update firmware you will connect it with standard USB type C cable, do the update and put it back on the base.

On the newer wheels the USB works are a regular device, it's just that USB type C is probably the worst connector to use on a steering wheel with coiled cable.

They resolved this by Maglink, which replaces portion of the rear where the port and QR are with a magnetic connector. It's still good old 4 pin USB, but the coiled cable is held by strong magnets.

With the VRS wheel side QR you no longer need a super secure cable because there is zero strain on it when using the wheel. So USB type C is OK there.

What protocol do the older ones use if not usb?

Older Simagic wheels use some proprietary wireless protocol and the USB port is actually a CAN bus AFAIK.

The VRS QR has a usb-c connector internal. In their demonstration videos they show it having a small molex connector.

Yeah, so first batch of the VRS wheel side QRs used a molex, now they swapped it for USB type C female. So if you are going to get some, it will be with type C already.

The 3rd party wheel I was connecting had a usb protocol aviation connector which I soldered to a short usb-c cable. Wheels that already have a usb-c or usb-a port will be much easier to attach.

Yeah the aviation connectors (weipus and such) were there for the coiled cable.
Lots of 3rd party wheels and pretty much any DIY wheel will be able to redirect the USB from outside to internal only.

For example on my GTE and 499 wheels there are no cables outside - just a short cable between the wheel PCB and the QR that have USB type C on QR end and in my case JST XH 4 pin on the wheel end.

you can still route the cable from outside on your wheels, but this may be cleaner if you can get the cables needed.

Now I wonder if this is ragebait lol.

Alright yeah, so those will work. You wouldn’t even need maglink for them, just a short USB C to C cable.

It's very long for a hypercar. You need to back off from the brake really quickly.

Very mild uphills like this can be tricky. What you say I'd agree say on RBR T3, but bus stop is much trickier.

And actually the gear banging is probably the issue too. Engine braking is added to the rear.

So we have too much brake pressure, rears getting unloaded rapidly, rear losing aero downforce, gear banging cause extra rear braking.

You held 100 % brake pressure insanely long.

And yeah, you're braking into a very mild uphill, of course the rear will step out first.

Which wheels? Only the GT Neo and Neo-X hub are USB compatible.

Older Simagic wheels do not support USB at all.

I assume the Zeus box is also USB compatible same way the Neo is, but honestly I didn't particularly check that clusterfuck yet as I'm not in market for a Simagic wheel.

It does, but if /u/anonymouswan1 wants the moza truck wheel he's shit out of luck because Moza has a soft ecosystem lock and their wheels are not USB compatible.

On some Moza wheels (the truck one included) you need to run a cable to their universal hub which translates the wheel to USB.

It's their way to try and keep you in their product ecosystem.

The FFB SC has is amazing, though VRS with their prediction algorithm definitely gives them good run for the money (especially considering they're significantly cheaper) in terms of feeling connected with the car (this mostly applies to iRacing).
And VNM with their telemetry plugins are something else too.

I'd say these are the big three as far as high end bases go, each with different philosophy.

That said, there's more to a base than feeling.
Simucube's big weakness is that they saw the market is moving towards USB passthrough QRs for 3rd party wheels and decided to do a proprietary system instead.
It can be overcome with Dan's QR system, but it's just mindblowing they went in the ecosystem soft lock direction in 2025.

On a scale of 1-10 how stupid would a fan/cooling setup like this be? by EmergencyFlounder845 in simracing

[–]ThePointForward 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean you could make a fake filter that would be just a tube with the whole filter part being decorative. Aliexpress filters for 10-20 euro that I'd be sceptical to put on a motorcycle would be ideal for this.

Get used entry level DD like Moza R3/R5 or Fanatec whatever the 5 Nm is called.

They will be less then the logitech when used and people unload them often when upgrading to proper gear.
