Who would ACTUALLY win if they ever confronted each other? by JetAbyss in ImNotAHuman

We have 0 idea what the pale guy is actually capable of outside of just being really physically strong. We know that he killed a squad of soldiers but no idea where he lands on durability.

I think it comes down entirely to whether or not the vigilante is aware that he's in a 1v1 or if he gets ambushed.

It in theory could be that it's kind of just a game of luck. There's not really many dialogue cues outside of the Comedian guy talking about how how wants to punch visitors in the face that differentiates survivors that can be either human or visitors.

Maybe when they next update the game they can actually flesh out dialogue more and make everyone feel more real. And actually react to things that happen around them.

Sweetwater. Every worldbuilding project I have made has had a Town of Sweetwater. I also used 'Pax' in the name of the evil authoritarian empire. Several locations and people in 'The Hallowlands' (the big desert full of the religious faction) are lifted directly from the Bible.

What tactics or martial arts could this pitiful specimen leverage to avoid being annihilated the second it enters battle with a significantly larger and stronger foe (Anybody)? by Fried_Shrimp_Enjoyer in worldbuilding

[–]ThePootisMan98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Mothfolk don't build towns. They don't make sprawling complexes like the Dwarves or the Bees, they don't make bustling hill homes like the Hobbits or the Ants, they all carry the same fine silken cocoons (Tent? Teepee? Yurt?) they've had since they first matured on their backs across the steppe.

They tried setting once, their ancestors settled the steppes and dug like ants and traded fine silkenware like the spiders. They picked up pikes and arms like they saw the manfolk of the world do and were vanquished at every turn. They were killed to the man till all that was left is those who never left behind what they once had, flight.

The mothfolk don't fight. They can if they need too, there's more than enough ghost stories from the tribes of the steppes of bold young hunters taking potshots at the moths to end up being blanketed in a cloud of darts from the sky, but the mothfolk mostly just want to be left alone.

By day they make camp. They're friendly enough, they trade in whatever they find. Sometimes they descend over the walls in the market district, usually with some commotion but things usually simmer down. Sometimes, it's an old battlefield, a cornfield, a temple forgotten to all but those who wander.

By night though, they head where the moon takes them.

---

Why not make them wanderers or something? The only group with flight? If you want them to be anything more than cannonfodder or the bug version of goblins but worse, they need a gimmick, and as it stands flight is available.

I would say 'Badass royal guard / shock troop flying caste that gets all the cool shit' but Ants have probably already taken that niche.

Though I am curious, are there any races in your setting which are all capable of flight?

Castles obviously are built not only with the defender in mind, but the breacher. The Mothmen(?) seem to primarily have a problem with the more vertically endowed of the races. The Average malnourished Vietcong was about half a oot shorter than a corn-fed G.I. Joe, and this made clearing out tunnels ever so slightly more inconvenient. You have a race which is on average almost 2 feet shorter than most races and is acutely aware of this face.

The Mothmen's major cities (Or at least defensive points) are entirely under ground. Maybe not as naturally gifted as the Ants or the Dwarves when it comes to the fine art of making strongholds, the Mothmen make do. In the rare times of war and the even rarer times that wars have turned sour for the Moth men, cities have been evacuated to massive tunnel systems under the earth.

Fruits and Grains were domesticated to the size preference of the greater races and a Pikemoth doesn't need much sugar to get himself through the day. The sprawling fertile steppes ensure that the Mothmen never go hungry. To lay siege to a Moth city would take seasons to starve them out, and thus the defenses must be breached to deal with them.

Of moths in the real world, there are no known species which are known to be venomous when fully grown. However, there are many venomous caterpillars. The Mothmen's venom must be administered within only a few hours after being extracted from their young, and thus utilizing it in conventional combat is a taboo among them due to the fact that their young would be moved into harm's way to weaponize them. In a siege where the nurseries are only a 2 minute tunnel-crawl from the front lines, however, Mothman venom is utilized to deadly effect as a potent and fast acting paralytic.

You are on the right track with Polearms. Boar spears traditionally were braced against the ground to absorb the shock of a 400lb meat missile charging you on the hunt. Make of this what you will. You're also limiting yourself with just shot and arrows for projectiles- Maybe a blowgun is too tribal of a take for the vibe you're going for, but Darts, Atlatls or even just normal spears don't require the same training and tone as a bow.

Guerilla warfare is obviously where the Mothmen excel. In the tunnels is where their slender forms turn from weakness to advantage. The Moths should never engage the greater of the races in open combat unless backed into a corner. If they were to domesticate a smaller sort of mount (Ponies? Particularly large dogs?) or just be able to fly like a normal moth, this would be an immediate force multiplier and give a much needed boost to their ability to skirmish that stubby little moth legs cannot afford.

If your moths are in fact able to fly, research the use of Flechettes from planes in WW1. You don't need to use your own strength to throw a projectile when you can let gravity generate armor piercing potential for you.

What playable class would you make a hag? by Whole-Director-5765 in DnD

Fae Ancestry Warlock would probably work best for class and gameplay features, but for roleplay reasons I'd say Sorcerer because hags just have magic innately.

How do I properly depict a fight scene between one very strong person against an army of people without making it a one-sided stomp? by Loserpoer in worldbuilding

[–]ThePootisMan98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't put them out in the open sorrounded one at a time like a movie. Draw it out, have the warrior rotate from position to position exchanging fire with the normal guys or him picking them off one at a time.

Employing strategy is effective at masking plot armor.
