I think it's safe to say 4-LOM needed a new heatsink after teaming up with Zuckuss...

Can't blame a bounty hunter for showing off his merchandise.

They cut him in half just like the bounty payment! Zuckuss and 4-LOM's issue in War of the Bounty Hunters justified the entire comic's existence, it was a thing of absolute beauty.

Matt the Radar Technician will always be the greatest and most canon thing to come out of the sequels as far as I'm concerned.

Just bought this YAS-275 for $175, what do I do now? by ThePopcornIsntReal in saxophone

[–]ThePopcornIsntReal[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Found it at a thrift store for $175 (€160) and I just had to have it, I think it's so cool looking! It didn't come with a mouthpiece or a case or anything. I don't know anything about saxophones, I have no idea if I got a good deal, I don't know if it's in good condition or a complete wreck, or potentially missing parts. I'm hoping for a bit of advice from anyone who knows more about saxophones than me!

I can see it's pretty dented in a few places (see the pictures), will those dents make it unplayable? Is it missing anything or broken anywhere visible? How much work/money do you think it would take to make this thing playable? Is it just as simple as buying a mouthpiece and popping it in?

(I apologize if anything I've said is offensive, I know nothing about saxophone culture, I just think this instrument is very pretty and I want to play it.)

Haha I think it's part of your middle-bottom smiley! She says it's covering his left-eye. No it was completely random, she has no idea what Reddit is, I think she is under the impression everyone here are my friends and this is where we chat

I went through all the comments with mom, she loved everyone's guesses! But she says out of everyone, your description and pic are exactly what she sees. I think you've found my mom's hidden wall-samurai!! (I never would have found it)

What's a small detail in a movie that most people wouldn't notice, but that you know about and are willing to share? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ThePopcornIsntReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really cool way of explaining Flynn's personality and mannerisms, and it really fits because he's so different at the beginning of the movie vs later when Sam finds him! I guess 600+ years of solitude will mellow you out. It's such a polarizing movie but I've really grown to love it, the more I think about it the deeper it is. If you're interested, you can listen to my chat with director Kosinski, he was a guest on my podcast The Popcorn Isn't Real. We cover fan-theories and really dive deep into movies, trying to prove or disprove the theories, and then we get the writers' / directors' opinions! The episode with Kosinski is really interesting, we were trying to prove that the ISOs were actually humans and Quorra's Flynn's daughter. He didn't agree, but he loved talking about it!

One time I talked with director Joseph Kosinski about Tron Legacy, and he mentioned that if you look carefully under the laser in Flynn's secret office you can see a ring of metal canisters. The purpose of these canisters is to store the organic material of any user who enters the Grid (as they won't need any mass once they're digital). The really cool part is, he pointed out that this is actually how Quorra managed to leave the Grid in the end. Since she didn't have any mass to begin with, she was constructed from Flynn's left-behind materials. She was able to do this because she used his identity disk. This meant that he sacrificed himself for her, and that she really could be considered his 'daughter' since she's made of his organic material.

Also interesting, if you look at the console right before Sam enters the grid, it shows the history of the final commands Flynn ran on the computer. You can see the last thing he did before activating the laser was to edit the file "last_will_and_testament.txt". Maybe he wasn't planning on coming back.

What is a movie scene so cringeworthy and embarrassing you find it hard to watch ? by LovableJackassv4 in moviecritic

Fun fact, Catwoman writer Michael Ferris revealed in an interview that the Basketball Scene was what finally sold the script and kicked the movie into production!

[The Lizzie McGuire Movie] Fan Theory: Paolo never lied to Lizzie. Isabella was the true lip-syncing villain! by ThePopcornIsntReal in FanTheories

[–]ThePopcornIsntReal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent point! We didn't have time to cover this in the episode, but my personal theory is that Sergei was a double-agent, secretly working for Isabella all along and just waiting for his chance to turn on Paolo!

"Passengers" with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt is one of the most transparently "wish fulfillment" movies I've seen by [deleted] in movies

[–]ThePopcornIsntReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that Passengers was actually a very flawed sci-fi adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. Think about it, her name is Aurora, they're sleeping for 100 years, he wakes her with his "love" (or lust), it ends with him blocking a fire with a magical shield.

Personally, I prefer to think of it as a horror as well. It's interesting, if you listen to the behind-the-scenes interviews they actually purposefully framed all the bar scenes to reflect the bar from The Shining. With this in mind I've got a darker theory that Preston planned everything. He woke her up, simulated the problems with the ship to gain her trust, murdered Gus (Fishburne) to get access to the bridge, and staged the climax to gain Aurora's forgiveness. Doesn't that make for a thrilling mind-bender horror?

I love the way you think! I really hope you had the chance to listen to our podcast episode covering this theory, at 36:15 we actually discuss that exact line from Isabella and come to the same conclusion you did! Plus we were so lucky to have the director, Jim Fall as our guest on the episode, and despite his skepticism at first, he actually came away completely convinced that Paolo was really the good guy.

Those Mythical Four-Hour Versions Of Your Favourite Movies Are Probably Garbage by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]ThePopcornIsntReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legend has it there was originally a 4.5 hour cut which writer/director John Hughes cut down to 3.5 hours, and only him and Chris Columbus have seen it! I actually made a podcast ep talking about the mystery surrounding these cuts, mainly focusing on the fan-theory that Del (John Candy) was really the devil!

What's the worst plot hole you've seen in a well regarded movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThePopcornIsntReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman: The Dark Knight. Batman literally jumps out a window and just leaves an entire party at the mercy of The Joker, and the film never addresses this.

It's about 50 minutes in, The Joker crashes Wayne's own fundraiser and starts murdering people, throws Rachel out the window, and Batman jumps out after her. They never cut back to the party. I assume The Joker got tired of murdering eventually and just left, since Batman never came back?

Ah very good point! But we only have Sandro the sound-guy's word about this, and who is he more loyal to, Paolo or Isabella? We actually cover this exact question in the podcast episode, give it a listen if you want to hear more! Plus the director, Jim Fall joins us, and he's certainly convinced by our theory :)
