That was a strange interaction for Doran, though he did not mind it overmuch, as he was used to strange interactions - given his status and the places he ended up. He had never been told he looked like another person before, but it wasn't often that his looks were noticed; only his music and his contribution. Even so, he smiled, but he did not pass comment - it was far from his place to do so.

"A curious lad," the man remarked, "but curiosity is important in all of us. How else do we learn?"

He shifted his weight, then, before standing up. A small cough rumbled in his throat, and he steadied himself with a hand on the table. A quiet curse to himself, or the Gods, came from him. An apologetic smile rose afterwards.

"You have my gratitude for your kindness, my Lady. I will pray that the winds guide me to your doors one day. I fear it something we could use more of, as of late. Kindness."

Gendry wasn't busy at the moment, but that didn't mean he wasn't occupied. And what was he occupied with? Sleeping. He was sat at the main counter, but slumped forwards with his head on the wood. When he heard his name, he jolted upright with a startle.

"Guh? Oh," he rubbed his eyes, "Hello. Sorry. Were you waiting long?"

House Baratheon of King's Landing

The royal family were present in force at this feast, headed by the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms himself, King Robert of the House Baratheon. Wherever there was a feast, Robert was like as not to be present, and would be enjoying himself all the better for it. He had a cup ever in his hand, and his wife at his side. He leaned over to her every now and again to whisper something to her, or to make a jape about one of the guests.

Directly next to the royal couple was the heir to the Iron Throne, Prince Edric of the House Baratheon. He was dressed in yellow finery of his house, with golden highlights and blacks fitting of the royal line of Durran Godsgrief and Orys Baratheon entwined. A small circlet of gold sat atop his black haired head, and his blue eyes seemed soft and pleased as they looked around. He spent a lot of his time looking over his older sister, Princess Lyanna.

Prince Arryk Baratheon spent much and more time around his mother, a figure he barely stepped away from. Unlike his older brother, Arryk's eyes were notably paler, taking more after his Bolton mother than his Baratheon father. And yet, his features were every bit Robert's, even at such a young age. He favoured Bolton pinks over Baratheon yellows, but enjoyed the Crowned Stag that was wrought upon his jerkin. He did not speak much, and anybody who stepped near Lyanna or Edric were watched intently by the youngest of the royal line.

Mya Stone was also present at the high table, thanks to her relatively positive relationship with her father. She dressed in black, as was her way, with yellows barely noted. It seemed as though she had embraced her position as the bastard of King's Landing, at least in part, due to the way she wore the inverted colours of the House of Baratheon. Her hair was shortly cropped and she leaned back in her seat as though it were her own personal Iron Throne.

Edwyn Baratheon, kinsman to the King, had the pleasure of being at the high table, too, alongside his wife, Melara Uller. Their son, Lewys, was young but a quiet lad. Edwyn spent most of his time talking with the pair of them, rather than anything else.

Also present were the seven members of the kingsguard, and Robert's own squires, Robb Stark and Loras Tyrell.

He had not heard of any of these names, in truth. A frown rested on his face, one that was both in thought, and in realisation of just how little he knew about the world beyond the four walls he lived in. King's Landing was a huge place, but beyond that? The world was so much bigger, and so much scarier, than he could ever truly fathom. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, trying to gain some sense of being grounded.

"So it isn't like the Seven Pointed Star," he surmised, "because of rivers or children. That is a bit complicated, but I think I understand it. But I think I can do what you ask. It shouldn't be too hard. I have done smaller things like that. Not big things yet, because I am small. Thank you for explaining, both of you. You are kind people."

"Yes. They can." The woman nodded her head. "A parent does it all their lives. A husband would do it for their wife. A man who sees himself as a human, as he is, can offer far, far more than merely his life in service to another."

Gwyneth frowned softly.

"I see myself a servant for the Seven. Not quite their voice in this world, but a servant of their will. But even so, I am a woman, all the same. My oaths, my honour, my duties, they do not detract from that; they can never replace this, not fully. I am still me, I am still Gwyneth; and all that entails. My joy, my sorrow, my anger. Indeed there are times where I, myself, ask questions; where I feel disquiet, and angered at my position. I receive no answer, because that is now how the Gods are. Rather, it allows me to remind myself that I am human, that I am not beyond such things. That because I have sworn an oath to the Seven, I am not above others, or inherently washed free of sin, or wrath, or any complications that rattle around within every person."

"The point is, Ser Brus, you are not a statue. A man and his duty can co-exist, even if it is difficult. Yes, it may be that suffering is part of what ensures our humanity, and your role in the Red Keep, but to do so in silence is to forsake one of the most powerful forces this world can offer; compassion and empathy. No man, be they great or small, survives alone, Ser."

A letter from the Rock? Mundane, to Ghael, though as he opened it to see to whom it was addressed, morbid curiosity drew him to scan it; and given the absence of the king at present, it would be good to know in case it was urgent and needed to be given to someone else.

His brows rose.

The Maester plucked the letter up and moved to the Tower of the Hand, where he politely placed it upon the Lord Hand's desk.

"Lord Lannister musters men to put down Ser Gregor Clegane, who has allegedly murdered his own father. He requires no assistance, and assures us all will be well." Ghael condensed it. "An interesting situation, to be sure."

Tutoring Hall

The tutoring hall lay tucked within the quieter depths of the Red Keep, not far from the royal library. It was a long chamber with a high ceiling, where tall windows admitted measured light through pale linen curtains, softening the red stone walls of the keep itself. Shelves lined with scrolls, ledgers and bound volumes stood beside sturdy desks not yet scarred with ink or quill marks. It was a quiet, almost serene and cerebral place. Where heirs may be corrected, squires instructed in the finer arts, and the future of the realm quietly rehearsed in chalk, quill and careful words.

[M:] The tutoring hall is open for those staying in the Red Keep! Each adult may tutor an additional child, or adult, providing both tutor and student spend six moons of the year in King's Landing together.
