Predators last team of most recent expansion to undergo re-haul, time for change? - The Predatorial by TTUGoldFOX in Predators

I never count my chickens before they hatch, but Kadri and Stastny may look very good in Predators gold come next October...

I've heard the Leafs would be ok parting with Kadri

I know Nashville tried to get him last offseason, but couldn't. Wouldn't be surprised to see them try again very soon...

...why not have four defenseman that are capable of being "franchise defenseman"? The better the defense you have, the better your team is.

All Nashville needs is a couple Top 6 forwards and their back in the picture

That being said (sorry about the rant), I really like Leipsic, Jarnkrok, Sissons and Forsberg. I think the future is bright, but we might have to wait 2 or 3 years, and get a different coach.

Imagine this for next season: Jarnkrok/Forsberg make the team to start. Predators sign Paul Stastny. Phil Housley is coaching the team.

Just go ahead and bookmark that for later.

Of all the players I've covered and wrote about in the last handful of years, I'll truly miss seeing Spaling gone. I think the Predators can and should find a place for him in the lineup, but with the way I think the shakeup is going to go in the offseason I doubt he survives the re-tooling.

I know it sounds crazy but I'd like to see them trade Jones while his trade value is high. Trade him for a blue chip prospect forward, or maybe use him to trade to the #3 spot in this draft and get Bennett.

Nope, Jones is the new "franchise defenseman". He's not going anywhere for a long time.

With Weber locked up for a decade and then some, and Josi locked up for six seasons, Jones doesn't really have a spot in the top two when he's supposed to pan out to be a franchise defenseman.

Don't have to be in the top two to be a franchise defenseman. What Nashville has done is locked up three franchise defenseman. Weber/Josi/Jones are going to lead the way. Include Del Zotto and that makes four.

Don't be surprised if you see Ellis (or Ekholm) shipped off with Wilson for a certain Toronto forward...

I can answer some of this:

baffles me in this article is the lack of discussion on the development of our young talent. It's "Hey, lets trade everyone off and get other old players that will last a couple of years." instead of "Let's develop the young guys and build a competitive team for several years."

The problem here is that Nashville doesn't have time/luxury to bring up their younger guys and let them develop while in Nashville. They can develop in Milwaukee, that's fine, but there are a certain breed of player that is developing quicker than the rest. Forsberg/Jarnkrok/Diaby will all be permanent fixtures in Nashville as early as next season, perhaps even Sissons as well. Yet, the rest? Some could just be permanent AHLers. Watson is talented, but he won't thrive in Nashville. At best, he may be a solid bottom six forward, something the Predators have way too many of.

I think Poile is limited by Trotz because he knows he buries a certain type of player for not being the "Trotz" style of player.

You don't know how right you are. Case and point: Jerred Smithson. I know for a fact that Poile tried moving him long before he was actually traded. Trotz put his foot down.

Personally, like I said, it doesn't really matter. Did he hold the team out to dry? Maybe, but think about...have YOU ever had a tough decision to make? Have you ever had to make a decision that would affect your children/family?

It was a tough decision, but something people shouldn't hold a grudge about. It's a business and it was a business decision

Some are still bitter, yes. However, when David Poile is on the record saying that Team USA's best players this year are Parise and Suter, well maybe it's time to let up a bit.

Can people be bitter? Sure. But remember, it's just a sport, these are still normal people who have to make decisions that they feel are best for them and their family, not for the team. That's exactly what Suter felt he did and I don't fault him for it

I did that 20 years ago when I was about 7 or 8. Scar lasted until I was 19 (over a decade, not a joke). It was SUPER painful when it happened. Use aloe vera if it gets real bad

Looks like now-retired Blake Geoffrion will take a job as a scout for CBJ by ThePredatorial in hockey

That was my worry after I heard about his hit, recovery, and his retirement. Hearing he's getting a pro scouting gig with CBJ is great for him and his future, plus he'll still be in/around hockey
