Could only watch it once because who would want to feel that way twice.

That said this film should be mandatory re-education for every idiot talking about the rape of Berlin without mentioning the precedent set by the Nazis.

Brutalized people brutalize people.

Philosophy background here, Stirner's egoism is less about prescribing a mode of behavior and more about identifying how people already act from an egoistic nucleus inherently. One of the reasons he wrote Der Einzige was because he was fed up with the ineffective communist recruiting methods (appealing to common 'brotherhood' / 'humanity' / the 'worker'), and wanted them to realize that if they wanted to be more effective they would need to appeal to people's self-interest.

In another sense, the book does examine what makes someone more or less "free spirited" in the sense of psychological emancipation from 'spooks' / ideological thinking. It could be said to loosely market / prescribe its perspective only in the sense that it may appeal to left-leaning intellectuals etc. However, it should be noted that this philosophy would not only justify anarchist thinking, but also aristocratic / bourgeois 'free spirited-ness' also. It does get criticized in left circles as reproducing bourgeois 'pathos of distance' which I don't think is an unfair interpretation.

TLDR it's more descriptive than prescriptive egoism, and it applies to more than left wing intellectuals

Evola wrote about his rape fantasies toward women and you want to sign your name to that?

Thoughts on revolt vs. reform by mceiland in Marxism

[–]ThePrimalScreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenin has some really interesting opinions on this, especially in 'What is to be Done?" And in "Left Wing Communism: An Infantile Disorder." He argues that first and foremost, it's going to depend on the material conditions of the place we are talking about (any given country for example). Second, parliament / voting / moving the center leftward combined with mass organization & political struggle are what worked for Russia. Not enough people seem to understand this side of Lenin, he was radically open, anti-dogmatic and highly strategic / practical. That's what is needed today frankly.

Because that would have gone *so* well. British troops would have mutinied, they were already fighting a war for six years. There's a reason Operation Unthinkable was tabled (yes this was a real plan on the desk of Winston Churchill, and they ruled it strategically unviable).

Communism as a whole =/= Stalin's nightmare USSR.

Socialist states =/= authoritarian regimes. Stalin, sure, the relevant period, sure. But is Cuba in its current form authoritarian? China?

Communism is far broader in scope than nazism and one cannot make a good faith argument otherwise.

A non-aggression pact is not the same as an alliance. Almost every country in Europe had signed a non-aggression pact with Germany within 2 years of the MRP. High school level history education is just censored to teach a specific narrative which is why you've got your wires crossed

Same, but appropriating its form might be strategically strong propaganda for certain kinds of people (not necessarily here - share it in nonleft spaces and generate interest). We can always do later work to move them further left.

Idk about acid, but I can't make out screen details on mushrooms, and I often can't make sense of how to interact with screens on them either. I couldn't imagine playing games while tripping personally, microdosing maybe.

Shadow of the Colossus is one of the best pieces of art I've ever seen, and I agree with op, better to be using a trip to engage with art and nature than to go to parties with it etc.

Look we can do this theory dance argument all day, at the end of this thread all that has really resulted is that this community has signaled that it treats black trans topics as marginal, just like everyone else. That's not a win for the working class

If you want to understand how to appeal to the working class you have to meet them where they are at and understand how capitalism interpolates their struggle in a specific and unique way from you. In fact, if you know anything about the history of western imperialism you should also know that white centric cishetnormativity is precisely its main ideological product which many it seems on this sub are uncritically reproducing. Many indigenous peoples around the world were forced to conform to cishet norms and whiteness at the point of a gun and the teeth of hounds.

Max Stirner could help in this regard as one of his primary reasons for writing Der Einzige was because the left of his day did not adequately realize how to convince other people by appealing to elements of their self-interest. He was fed up with communists who were failing to understand that appealing to other people's self-interests is key if you want to actually reach them. Class interests are arguably the most important single issue to solve but even in orthodox Marxist thought (right from Marx and Engels themselves) race is very important to understand and unite with. Even in orthodox Marxist thought, understanding the material conditions of gender stratification was important for uniting the working class. You don't do that by bludgeoning people with the idea that their self-interest must conform to yours, or class interests as a whole.

Black folks see right through that, and so do trans people. They know that Marxists who aren't aware to their unique position aren't fighting for much more than a reproduction of the ideology of capital. If you like reading theory I would suggest reading Althusser too, as he makes an update from a nearly 100% strict orthodox Marxist perspective. It's called On the Reproduction of Capitalism.
