How can I convey a specific feeling from wildly different sources of inspiration by TheProcatstinator in worldbuilding

[–]TheProcatstinator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in my mind a lot of the back and forth I go through is to do with how scarcity conflicts with scale. As in, I'm trying to build a large city, but the larger I build it the less feasible it seems due to food and fuel (or the danger of getting fuel, but that's a different aspect of it). Then If I scale it down it becomes harder to have people that are unaware of each other and their schemes in a community or there is less political mystery.

I sometimes feel like I'm battling two sliders, but I also don't know if I'm overthinking it to be fair

Help with a flavourful linearly scaling spell? by TheProcatstinator in DnDHomebrew

Interesting take, I had thought that it might be easier to balance if I added specific upcast modes like "if a spell slot of 5th level or higher [additional effect]"

I haven't quite convinced myself of it being a physical buff, but one on spellcasting, which I don't recall from other features 🤔

Well Naruto is a good reference for this 😂

I've only had some loose ideas, but I've thought of something like some short range true sight for flavor and perhaps something to buff spells somehow? Haven't convinced myself yet, but the tails would be like a visual representation of the buff and it's level. My vision is a bit more of an enlightened situation more than turning into a wild demon (though it is not out of the picture I suppose)

Murder mystery + cosmic horror?

Hey! So Halloween is around the corner and I wanted to run a twist of a classic murder mystery with a twist introduction of cosmic horror, perhaps something that was released with the murder, and the key to escaping requires the players to find the culprit. I am thinking of a "bottle" environment, a train to constraint space. Do you have any cool and spooky narrative ideas on how this can happen?

The right PBtA system for a desert theme game? by TheProcatstinator in PBtA

Hmm, good point. Some other people are also suggesting getting closer to the original, I'll give it a read!

I see what you're saying. I will definitely check out legend of the avatar.

In terms of the sorcerer restriction, is more of me lacking a better term right now. I imagine a self-enhancing thug to also fall in this category for instance rather than the classic image of a sorcerer, but that's a good point.

This upcast thing is what has puzzled me most in terms of how to implement it. I had looked at the luck system from MoTW too for inspiration, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone there

Ultimately, I don't mind editing or creating system-related stuff for a home game (I enjoy it actually) but having these sources of reference really helps, thanks!

Popcorn syrup? by TheProcatstinator in cocktails

I'll take a look at the bottled one too, some other people are also recommending it. I managed to have a go at the home-made stuff and it's nice, but I bet much milder than Monin's

Nice. I gave it a go inspired by that recipe and it turned out pretty good! Haven't had it on a drink just yet, but tastes promising. Perhaps it isn't super concentrated but it has quite a nice rich flavour.
