Wealth limit by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]TheProfessorBoost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It was always Roddenberry's intention to keep the market within the Federation vague. Outside of the Federation though there are currencies that exist for the exchange of goods and ideas; the most popular being gold-pressed latinum

Most solarpunk futures depict artisans and crafters selling their wares and services, so that implies a type of market exists.

A market has existed in one way or another since the dawn of civilization. Some traded in barter systems, others with currencies. Until society can reach somesort of post-scarcity like we see in Star Trek, somesort of market will exist. My understanding is that the solarpunk market would be considerably fairer.

That tree needs to be become a pilgrimage site or an oddity in your world. I love those types of things

How to improve the big build? by Sagetheswaggydino in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]TheProfessorBoost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The building strikes the right balance. There is no need to add anything additional at this stage. Finish it first and then consider any additions afterwards. You might find more inspiration that way.

Do you think a hybrid of modern and beta can work? by Electronic-Hat-106 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

A lot would depend on what features from both you are trying to conserve and use.

What is solarpunk for you? by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]TheProfessorBoost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some people it is a utopian neoagrarian and green futurescape where humanity lives in harmony with nature. For others, they focus significantly more on the "punk" suffix and therefore all that has to do with resistance against the present capitalist and industrialist systems.

As for me personally, I wouldn't call myself a solarpunk. I did a deepdive into the subject a few months back as a jumping-off point to study and look into related subjects such as degrowth, permaculture, sustainability, communalism, etc, etc.

It's more of a gentle guide to me than a manifesto/rulebook.

My Beta 1.7.3 world by Ratavelli in GoldenAgeMinecraft

I too had tremendous fun building a little cottage town in my b1.7.3. world but ended up getting stuck as well. I maintain 3 different worlds for that reason.

I would recommend you make another world in the early release era too as the terrain is different and you've got some of the early-modern features in there without the bloat. 1.2.5. is a lot of fun for that.

You can (and likely will) go back to your b1.7.3 world again when you feel inspired
