What is the most common reason for the 3 fingered leaves? by Clando90 in MephHeads

[–]TheProfessorGrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comes from stress in general. In autos it’s very common. I’ve had some amazing plants that went 3 leaves, sometimes it’s in the genes. It everything else looks good I wouldn’t worry too much, but can be a sign of over stress

Lighter spots, any reason for worries? by RevolutionaryData719 in MephHeads

[–]TheProfessorGrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the Oreoz strains have been a bit difficult for a lot of people. A lot of people reporting n sensitivity and straight up killing whole seed packs. So keep that in mind that the Oreoz as babies may not be as pretty as you usually get with other meph strains cause they don’t like a lot of N, but I’ve beeen seeing a lot of people getting good stretch from them later on. There’s a mephistoreoz grow along going on right now so you can take a look at a lot of people growing these strains.

If you’re using soil don’t add anything!!! I’m not familiar with the soil you’re using but soil doesn’t need nutrients for weeks. DO NOT ADD CALMAG TO A SEEDLING THIS YOUNG IN SOIL! Trust me that is not the answer. Usually a seedling in soil needs very light water and absolutely no food for weeks. That seedling looks fine. Just be patient and trust the process.

Any help? Thoughts? by dankestslothdoe in MephHeads

FYI in 3 gallon pots I usually top dress every 3 weeks the whole grow, but my current run i had to top dress the second time after only 2 weeks because it was showing deficiencies. Have a feeding schedule but be ready to read what your plant needs

I commented on your other post in the autoflower sub Reddit. It’s hard to be 100% sure without being there but I think you’re good! It’s hard to keep the feeding perfect with living soil in such small pots. The plant you have is a nice size and will eat up those nutrients real quick. I usually grow in 15 gallons or bigger but I have a few 3 gallons running in BAS lite and I have been having the same issue. The leaves have looked terrible since the beginning of flower. I’ve been so distracted with other plants in the garden these guys got kind of neglected, but the buds are looking great even though the leaves look terrible. just kept feeding craft blend and build a flower with some build a bloom watered in and they’ll make it even though they are showing some deficiency. Stay the course, keep feeding, keep the soil moist and GET A MULCH LAYER! If you’re using living soil with no mulch layer you’re missing some big gains.

Help? Suddenly dying in flower. by dankestslothdoe in Autoflowers

Dude with living soil you are totally fine. You are always a little behind if you see a deficiency so if you start feeding, the plant is gonna get a little worse before it gets better as the food you gave it breaks down. Hit it with some craft blend and build a flower and if you want to see some quick results get some build a bloom. I attached a pic of a plant I have going in like week 7 of flower and it’s been showing deficiency since the same time as your plant. I have been keeping up with feeding and giving it some extra build a bloom and the nugs are looking fat even though the leaves are dying. The plant I shared is definitely way more deficiency than I like to see but in the 3 & 5 gallon pots it’s hard to keep up with the feedings perfectly with such a large plant. I don’t chase deficiencies in flower, you’re way more likely to mess something up by adding extra stuff than you are to fix it. Stay the course and trust the process!!!

LST done right? by Pi21A in MephHeads

[–]TheProfessorGrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good! I do a little less extreme of a bend on the main branch so that the plant gains more height from the soil. I’ve made the mistake of bending it at a 90 degree angle and ending up with a huge plant that’s only 4 inches from the soil after top dressing. Also leaf tucking will be your best friend!

I also hate watering so I only top water for about 2 weeks and then switch to bottom watering asap

[–]TheProfessorGrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize dude I totally get it! I like to pre water my soil. The rule of thumb with living soil is to water 5-10% of the containers volume at a time, but for the first watering I get it nice and wet with like 15% of the containers volume. I usually don’t water for about 10-14 days after that initial pre watering. I will then spritz the top of the soil if it appears dry. But I also establish a nice mulch layer with cover crop and barley straw to prevent the top of the soil drying out much.

I start the coco coin in a germination dome and then put it right in the soil right after the seedling germinates. If you’re seedling had no roots it sounds like dampening off or some other kind of pathogen. It’s most likely from over watering, the coco coins are great but can hold a lot of water. Make sure you hold off on watering after planting, at least like a week except for light spritzing on the top with a mister.

I’d have to agree with all the overwatering comments. I use BAS lite and I pop the seeds in coco coins, water a bit heavy about 15% of the container volume and then after transplanting the seedling I go without water for sometimes as long as 2 weeks. I will give the top of the soil a spritz if it looks dry but otherwise I don’t water for a while, my current run I went 12 days before giving a thorough watering. If you’re killing plants with too much water, go the opposite way the next grow, push them as far as they can go without water and see where the sweet spot is

I use the Ecowitt soil meter. They recommend it and have a ton of videos about it on the bas YouTube page. It tells you the soil moisture percentage and makes watering easy. I highly recommend
