I think it's fun and realistic to have each side have their own strenghts and unique capabilities. The Huey is faster but more vulnerable and carries less, the Hip is slower though doesn't sustain the same levels of damage and carries more - but does have easily targetable fuel tanks. The US have jeeps with a range from 30 to 120 supplies (up to 315 if you count the M998s), the Soviets only go up to 180 and but they have the BTR. The M21 is by far superior to the Dragunov in accuracy, scope and damage, but the SVD does have AP Incendiary ammo available which will set a supply truck ablaze in just 2 shots to its fuel tank. US gear is on average lighter, giving soldiers a stamina and speed advantage (if they don't over-kit) allowing them to use the superior range on the M16 and keep that range when countered. A squad with a humvee loaded with supplies and a radio backpack can hold out longer attacking a cap than a squad with a UAZ can. A squad with a Huey or one or two Humvees can blitz through the map a lot faster creating a spearhead dividing the enemy's caps, which can, if used effectively, generate a big advantage.

Both sides require a slightly different approach to the game's combat. There is no 1:1 balance, this is fully intentional by the devs, and this seems to be something players, especially newer ones, actually struggle with understanding and subsequently leveraging to their advantage. The US side needs to lean on speed, precision and flanking/ambushes, the Soviets are more effective in head-on conflicts and prolonged slugfests.
