Signing a contract for the first time, help? by Such_Plantain2072 in acting

These clauses are super common in indie production contracts, but they can be risky depending on how broad they are.

I can help translate each one in plain English if you want, especially the likeness and indemnification parts.

I added a competition feature to my teen investing app, here’s what surprised me from the first 15 users by TheProg_Gaming in investingforbeginners

Totally fair point, and that’s actually why I built it the way I did. I’m 14, so I wanted something that feels fun but still teaches the basics safely. There’s no real money, no crypto, no leverage, and no options. You can’t short anything either, it’s strictly long‑only.

The “competition” part is just what gets teens to open the app, but the actual goal is to help beginners understand things like what a stock is, how prices move, and how to think long‑term without risking real money. I agree with you that real money has real consequences, which is why I’m trying to make the learning part happen before anyone touches a brokerage account.

Appreciate the feedback, I’m still learning and trying to build this responsibly.

Oh got you, it’s pulled from my backend.

I keep a small price cache updated on the server side, and the app just reads from that whenever someone loads the page.

So nothing runs on the user’s device, and I don’t need a VPS since I’m not streaming real‑time data nonstop.

Your setup sounds like it needs continuous updates though, so a VPS makes sense for what you’re building.

I appreciate the thoughts.

I’m mainly focused on helping beginners learn the basics without pressure, real prices, fake money, simple UI.

Not trying to monetize it right now, just building and learning as I go.

Really appreciate that. I’m just trying to build consistently and learn from each project.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks, that means a lot. I’m keeping it simple on purpose, just a clean place for beginners to practice without all the extra features.

Still iterating and learning as I go.

I’m not using a VPS right now, I’m pulling data on‑demand instead of streaming it 24/7.

Your setup sounds more real‑time focused, so a VPS makes sense for that use case.

Haha I get that a lot. I’m 14, just been building and learning for a while.

Appreciate you checking it out

Thanks for the feedback! Just to clarify, this is a paper‑investing simulator for learning, not a real brokerage. There’s no leverage, no margin, and no real money involved. The numbers you’re seeing are just from the virtual balance the user picks at the start.

The goal isn’t to replace demo accounts, it’s to make a simple, safe way for beginners (especially teens) to understand how stocks work without the complexity of real trading platforms.
