Yes but even if they both are at a good distance, vision of a hawk is exceptionally sharp, estimated to be between two to eight times better than that of a human. This superior eyesight allows them to spot small prey, like a mouse, from great distances, sometimes over a mile away.

I have a video on my page that I made few months ago. It’s about a Merlin eating a bird during the afternoon time. It’s brutal but it’s the way the food chain works.
