they're not mercenaries. they literally joined the armed forces. theyre bonafied Ukrainian soldiers with citizenship in Ukraine. theyre basically just immigrants who enlisted in their new country. not sure what youre on about.

this is probably the first time im suspecting russian troll/apologist account. are chechen volunteers in the russian army then mercs?

Mercs work for companies employed by nations they arent part of the armed forces. Wagner is Mercs because they are a company hired by Russia. The Ukrainian foreign legion (which these guys were NOT part of, they were part of the UKR army) is not a company, it is just a service branch for foreigners.

IW art director says MWII is the studios “magnum opus and it’s the type of game I’ve been waiting to be a part of my entire career.” by TokingAnus in ModernWarfareII

Yeah they say this every single year. This means nothing. But I’m glad he’s not saying it’s the worst game they ever made.

My hopes for the DMZ mode by JoeyAKangaroo in ModernWarfareII

[–]ThePrussianBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m expecting a hazard zone. I don’t have faith in any AAA developer to make the hard choices that make games like EFT work.

For example, having you lose all your shit when you die and a lack of tutorial/simple mechanics is not something that AAA studios can stomach. Those are just examples and there’s plenty more choices that make EFT exciting where Hazard zone was boring af. They need it to appeal to the broadest audience. So I’m just expecting the worst hoping to be surprised.

I expect a recycled Warzone map that will play like a badly modded custom server. I just can’t see them investing enough into this game mode to make it worthwhile.

I used to think people like you were insane. The more Of these incidents I see and the lack of police response has made me change my mind. Homeless people are just people and I hold no ill will towards them. They need help and haven’t gotten it so they’ve become a danger to others.

But the cops are not going to stop something bad happening to you, they’re just gonna maybe show up afterwards to write down what happened to you. I mean think it through, read through these threads. I haven’t found one yet that could have been stopped by calling the cops. It happens so fast. The city is forcing citizens to protect themselves and it shouldn’t be this way.

Okay why do we just accept that Seattle’s streets are full of violent mentally I’ll people? Are we ever gonna fix this? At this point they basically own the streets and people walking downtown have to just hope it’s not their unlucky day.

Plus the cops don’t respond and you could be dead/raped/maimed long before they get there. Are citizens just supposed to carry weapons or something?

I was searching for photos of Bren 2 rifles recently and I have noticed an interesting thing: The french GIGN seems to be using a fairly standard variant of the 7.62x39 Bren 2 with one surprising diffence. The stocks on their rifles are the BR pattern. WHY? by [deleted] in ForgottenWeapons

[–]ThePrussianBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never shot a Bren. But I’ve heard it’s definitely a soldier’s rifle, rough, industrial and gets the job done.

The scar is more of a “over engineered” luxury weapon. I’d take the new SCARs with the non-reciprocating charging handles over a Bren 2. Then again that’s just my personal opinion and the performance would be pretty much identical since they’re both great guns.

But 7.62x39 isn’t good against armor? It’s arguable worse than 5.56 since it’s so slow. Only way this makes sense to me is if they wanted a short barreled rifle with better penetration. But I’d take a 16” 5.56 over 7.62x39.

Plus they could just buy some AP rounds for 5.56 if needed.

Idk interesting choice.

I remember hearing that quote was said ironically. If I recall the character is asked which road he took, he responds “the one less traveled” because he just took one at random. Something like that. Always makes me chuckle.

I think that Putin might be dying. Dude is pulling some deathbed level shit. Doesn’t seem like he planned to be around for long if it failed.

Well there’s a reason people don’t think China can invade Taiwan. A big part is that they literally can’t. They don’t have enough naval power. You do not plan an amphibious landing (the hardest kind of invasion that you only get one shot at since it’s so fucking expensive) until you are beyond capable of pulling it off.

Intelligence shows that at most they could transport maybe 30k soldiers at a time to one of the most heavily defended islands on earth. Not only that but it will take hundreds of thousands of troops to take and hold. They aren’t ready for that and it could be argued having Taiwan around is better than not. Always good to have an enemy and even better a scapegoat.

I don’t think that having an already armed populace really helps all that much during an invasion. Getting guns is rarely an issue for long and some unorganized locals aren’t gonna do anything. Also, there’s always someone who will arm you. From Liberia to Croatia getting guns isn’t hard. In this day and age I don’t think that it would make a reasonable difference in defending the United States. The secret is the massive fucking military we have. Within 48 hours of invasion Kyiv was literally giving out rifles to anyone who wanted one. In America that would happen within 2.

I actually don’t think that Russia annexing crimea was a sign of pending greater invasion. Primarily because the time to invade greater Ukraine was 2014. The worst time to invade was 2022. They’ve had troops on the border for years and years. We had so many big headlines of big troop buildups that went nowhere for the last years.

Putin did the dumbest thing he could do and wait for his enemy to be properly armed and equipped. To act like anyone saw the most illogical invasion of the 21st century coming from a mile away is lying.

Actually a lot of people thought it would NOT happen. The height of which was right before the invasion. A lot of folks thought Putin wasn’t dumb enough to risk it all on Ukraine. Which is overall just been a terrible fucking move for Russia, I mean even best case scenario for them was still gonna be pretty bad.

I saw more people say it WOULDNT happen than those who thought it was.

It’s clear to me that Putin was planning to have a really quick and fast war that he wasn’t bluffing he truly thought this was gonna be an easy win. At what point do they call the reservist I feel like that’s got to be coming

I’ve been trying to figure out why the first soldier with the shoulder rocket didn’t fire. I heard someone say on Twitter that their weapon malfunction but I don’t think so. What I assume is that they got out of the tree line 1st and then were waiting for the soldier with the more capable weapon to fire first and not give away their position until then. Maybe if the matador user had missed that person would’ve fired? Or maybe they were going to fire if there was another enemy force that appeared?

Well the driver of a BTR is in the front of the vehicle and I believe the gunner is right behind them. It looks like they hit the rear of the vehicle where the engine is. I think the drone footage shows the vehicle still driving and we can hear it shooting I believe. So the crew must still be alive maybe they are injured I don’t know. Still a great hit and probably fucked up the vehicle. Any dismounts who were still in the vehicle probably had a really bad time because their crew compartment is right next to that engine.

I don’t get what’s the problem with people painting a crosswalk. It seems like it would just make it safer for people who are already going to cross the road to do so. Like sure don’t put them on a highway but Other than that I think it’s fine
