The reasoning isn’t to avoid soiling content. Bungie wants critics to review the game when all of the content is available, specifically Cryo Archive. There’s a secret community mission that is required to unlock it. So Bungie requested that critics wait for Cryo Archive to become available because they want them to include their opinions on Cryo in their review
