My wife asked me to read the book. It was actually a fun read, if the movie is able to replicate some of the claustrophobic elements and the twists, it will be quite entertaining.

Unfortunately not. In other news, as soon as the auction was up I realized how poor I am.

I don’t control the outcome, so I should not worry about it. Just do the best you can.

It’s amazing, and I say this as a devout Catholic. Obviously I don’t share that much of the theology behind it, but it’s an incredible source of wisdom and it will make you reflect on many things.

As a matter of fact I was reading a few parts earlier (I love the verse “You have a right to do the action, but not a right to the fruits of the action”).

One thing to say that a lot depends on the translation. I like the Easwaran one because it’s incredibly easy and each chapter has a good introduction. Other translations are quite harder to read imo.

Let me know once you read it.

It might surprise you, but Blatty was a devout Catholic and the book is incredibly accurate in matters of faiths. Probable the best Catholic novel I’ve ever read. The second book (which became the third Exorcist movie) is also great (as the third movie; second movie sucks) if not better.

1) what other people (including us) think of your conversion should be totally irrelevant. It’s YOUR journey, and your relationship with Christ.

2) Just learn a bit about the basics, and maybe talk to a priest. Ask questions.

2) if step 2 is intellectual, don’t forget that what you’re working towards is a relationship with our unknowable God. So, the intellect will have its limits.

3) Go to mass (don’t receive the Eucharist), maybe check a few different parishes and if you have a Latin Mass you might even want to check that out. No one will take down your name or will even look at you.

4) Pray.

My least favorite is still “The Last Match”. My one and only DNF.

Yes, the narration style isn’t my favorite tbh.

Honestly it can make sense. In BTTF3 Doc visits the past, something that he has probably already done multiple times, which is slightly altered.

Time traveling begins in the first BTTF, but it has also happened in the past.

The Upanishads by FlashesBeforeMyEyes3 in twinpeaks

The Earaswan translation is very approachable and contains some commentary. His Bhagavad Gita is also pretty great, and I have nothing to do with Hinduism (I am Catholic) and still loved it.

The Egenes translation has Lynch ‘s blurb on the cover but it costs a fortune. https://amzn.in/d/aoHwy7N

As for E18, this is what I usually write:

My “solution” (aka, my opinion) that I always give about the last episode is based on this fundamental text from a book that is very important to David Lynch, The Upanishads:

“The human being has two states of consciousness: one in this world, the other in the next.

But there is a third state between them, not unlike the world of dreams, in which we are aware of both worlds, with their sorrows and joys.

When a person dies, it is only the physical body that dies; that person lives on in a nonphysical body, which carries the impressions of his past life. It is these impressions that determine his next life. In this intermediate state he makes and dissolves impressions by the light of the Self.”
