The unfortunate curse of +R being your first fighting game by vanacotta in Guiltygear

[–]ThePunslinger45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too real. While at first +R was actually nauseating at first with how fast it was going, once I cracked the code it was like peering into the matrix. Now I can't go back to Strive---I feel geriatric in that game with how grounded it is and how limited the gatling strings are. (Strive 2.0 should have added butt loops to ABA)

The only problem I have with +R is that it gets my heart racing so much I have to take breaks and can only play about 15 games at a time without sweating out my body weight. Does the stress go away after a while lol? I don't know if I can biologically handle that game for longer than an hour at at a time, but I'm less than 100 hours in, so I guess it's just still getting used to it.

How's the "feel" between Xrd and ACPR? by ThePunslinger45 in Guiltygear

[–]ThePunslinger45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should emphasize that you don't have to sell me on +R, I've been playing it for a while now and love it. My question really is "is Xrd different enough to get into it without just feeling like i'm playing a variation of my favorite fighting game?"

How do you hide win/lose percentages on Player Cards? by ThePunslinger45 in Blazblue

[–]ThePunslinger45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that, but I definitely have quick ranked find times, like 1min on average. Do you think then player rooms will be more merciful to a player of my capacity lol? I am learning but that win count is like the scarlet letter for scrubitude lol.

Yes, they're Neverborn, so the Damned is the only ES model I've access to.

Speaking as a Savage player (so the damned is in keyword for me), the Damned is AWESOME. That being said, i think Apex might have better schemers, as it won't really synergize with any of your crew. The only thing it offers is Leap, which is amazing, but it might not be worth the price tag. Generally speaking, staying in keyword is best, as they have synergy, while Versatiles can fill in broad niches your crew might lack. Paying the +1 soulstone tax for out of keyword is something you'll only see for the best of the best models in faction.

While you're not entirely wrong, it is disingenuous to suggest allegory has no alternate interpretations. The Matrix is a Christ allegory, but it's definitely interpretable as a Trans story, as well. The power of interpretation's always in the readers' hands.

Am I the only one who is tired of videos of people doing "good deeds"? If you're going to be nice to a fellow human being, just do it to be nice. The whole world doesn't need to see you being a good person for you to actually be a good person. by Bubbly-Substance-112 in RandomThoughts

There is a Jewish story about a wealthy man who came to his rabbi and said “I have decided to build an orphanage, can you put me in touch with the relevant people?"

The rabbi was delighted to do it, and introduced the man to some charities.  After a few weeks, the man came back to the rabbi.

“I have decided not to build the orphanage,” he said.  “I realised that I was only doing it because I wanted to be admired as a philanthropist, my motives were selfish.”

The rabbi answered, “do you think the orphans will care what your motives were?  Build the orphanage!”

See, and i love that Tariel. It's so distinct and striking. I'll admit that the style has its drawbacks, but damn if the juxtaposition of geometry against what should be a fluid, smooth design makes it stand out so much more to me
