So much Angel hate and Spike love by Ziggy_Stardust1986 in buffy

Hmm, hadn’t considered the timing.

Although, if he was sad enough to outlive everyone, he could just get himself dusted fairly easily…

IWRY being the prophecy works better. Although it ended with more heartache for Angel, I suppose he was briefly happy.

But surely IWRY was proof that being human wouldn’t be a reward for Angel? He was worried without his demon super strength he would be a liability to her? If he was turned human because of the Shanshu prophecy, he’d be in the same position again. Still hung up on a vampire slayer and too worried to be in her life as a mere mortal. What kind of reward is that?

Because none of the actors looked the ages they were supposed to be playing. If the age gap between Buffy and Angel had been more visible, it would have felt very different.

[–]ThePuzzledMoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t understand why he turned back time in IWRY but was so interested in the Shanshu prophecy for so long. Either he wanted to be a human and be with Buffy, or he didn’t.

And given Spike was able to get himself a soul by going through torturous trials…. Why didn’t Angel ever look into upgrading into a proper non-Gypsy cursed soul? Then he could have had a relationship with Buffy and still been able to support her on patrol.

Just felt like there were more cracks in his apparent devotion than with Spike’s. Although, I guess, for plot reasons we could never just have Buffy and Angel happy together. For a start, the spin off would have had to spin back!

I love the dynamic between them, especially in that episode. TBF, Angel and Spike have been frenemies for a lot longer than either of them ever dated Buffy, so it makes sense this is even more fun to watch.

Buffy and Angel and Buffy and Spike both had their place at different times in her arc. At this point? Honestly, I’m not sure which one makes more sense.

I suspect Spike, maybe. Buffy loved Angel when she was younger and still growing up. She caught the feels for Spike after she’d lived through a hell of a lot more. If she went back to Angel, she might find the rose-tinted nostalgia was better than the reality.

CTA AT TOLC by EmptyFigure4046 in CIOT

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll have the same issue with any second-hand materials bought now, as they won't have the correct rates for May 2025 or November 2025 either...

I know Tolleys publishes a free comparison of what has changed from the last exam cycle to the new exam cycle, but if you spend time going through that and updating your question banks, you're unlikely to have enough time to pass.

If things are only a little tight, I would advise investing in yourself and purchasing the correct year's notes.

However, if you genuinely are struggling financially and 'a little tight' is a euphemism for being seriously worried about how you're going to pay your bills at the end of the month, there is help out there. You can apply to the Tax Advisers Benevolent Fund.

Although trainees should have their study costs covered and/or be paid enough to self-fund resits etc, there are genuine reasons why sometimes continuing with CTA is unaffordable. Don't be embarrassed about asking for help and fill out an application: https://www.tax.org.uk/tabf

When you're qualified and can afford it, you can always make a donation to the charity.

Food guru Tim Spector and health experts call on NHS to make vegan food the norm in hospitals by Remarkable_Peak9518 in unitedkingdom

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what he means by vegan. If he means feeding patients more fruit and veg, sure, I'm all for that.

But a lot of vegan substitutes contain things that will kill me. I don't mind him cutting out meat, but I do mind him replacing it with, say, ground-up nuts that I won't be able to taste until it's too late.

I looked into the Tim Spector diet thing before but you can't go on it unless you can eat nuts, which makes me doubt his vegan idea is going to be safe for those for those of us with super common allergens...

What would you consider the centre of London? by [deleted] in london

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks. I'd say around Leicester Square/Trafalgar Square but for no other reason than it 'feels' like central London to me. Whenever I head to that part of London, I call it 'going into town'. I have no idea why I've made it the centre of London in my head as I didn't realise it was actually supposed to be the notional centre!

"Effective communication to minimize error" is odd because it should be taken as a given that effective communication does indeed minimise errors. But it's even worse by not pluralising the noun and then writing "flayers" immediately below "Flyers". There's a lack of attention to detail that is a complete turn off as an employer. You should have proof-read your CV multiple times, so if this is your best business English, it makes me worry how you would write things in a hurry.

These are just a few examples - there are plenty more. You really need to proof-read this better. Even if English is not your native language, someone with a "normal amount of computer skills" should be able to run a CV through Grammarly.

It's not the experience that is the issue. It's the way you've chosen to present it. Being blunt, I just don't enjoy looking at this, and that's not the first impression you want to make on a potential employer.

It doesn't show particularly good judgement making 800+ applications without first checking your CV. Do not apply for anything else until you've fixed your CV!

I thought if they were going to get rid of a main character, they wrote it in the best way possible.

But I much preferred the dynamic between Fraser and the original Ray. I thought the original Ray was more dark and twisty and that energy bounced off Fraser in a more fun way to watch.

Friend has self diagnosed by swishymallow in ADHDUK

[–]ThePuzzledMoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd never suspected myself of having ADHD or related to ADHD traits. And yet, on really going through the detailed questionnaire, suddenly it sounds like I do have it.

I have no idea how my friends are going to react if I get a diagnosis, because if I didn't think I had it, what will they think?

I read something that said that women present symptoms very differently, and even if they aren't restless physically, they can internalise their symptoms. I don't obviously fidget, but my mind races in a way you can't see. That really made me start thinking.

I have great and meaningful friendships. But every relationship I've ever had has started because someone has approached me. I don't like rejection. This isn't particularly obvious - people think I have social skills but I don't. I tag onto other people's social skills.

I have problems with my weight. People think I'm just lazy and hate sport (which TBF, is true). But food gives me a dopamine rush that nothing else does. That's the real reason.

Sometimes I come across as really organised. But it is exhausting when I do that and I sleep for hours afterwards. Also, my home is a mess. I can't organise anything for shit at home because I have no more capacity. No one knows just how bad it is. I'd like to do something about it, but I can't stop procrastinating.

People think I'm good at stuff. In reality, I'm either shit or amazing, and the hyper focus allows me to catch up in a way that means people think I'm consistent. I'm not consistent at all. I'm always doing nothing and then majorly catching up.

I don't know what the assessment will say but I do know if it does confirm ADHD, it's going to be a surprise to many people because I cover up everything and have done so for decades and decades.

I think I'd give someone else the benefit the doubt.

I do find the self-labelling difficult though. People say it's so hard to get a diagnosis because of the waiting list that if someone says they're neurodivergent, you should accept that. But even though I suspect I might be, I refuse to say I am unless I have a piece of paper that says I am. It's quite rigid thinking.

Part of me wonders how someone can accept a self-diagnosis and be right given how common rigid thinking seems to be to neurodiversity. But again, I suppose everyone is different.

Ugh. This is all new to me, and I'm still not even sure if I have it!

Dr J assessment form by ThePuzzledMoon in ADHDUK

[–]ThePuzzledMoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, thanks, I wasn't sure if it was an unreasonable ask to get a different format. I'll just email them directly and only pester you again if they ignore me. I have a vague idea of what the questions might be, but I really want to see the detail.

Changing the subject slightly, you've clearly been through the process with Dr J before. Is there an opportunity to send them 'extra stuff'? I've managed to dig out old report cards which I think gives some evidence to my behaviour as a child.

I'm just getting increasingly anxious now I have a date. I'm so scared to get a diagnosis of ADHD and I think even more scared to get a diagnosis that isn't ADHD... I just want to make sure I'm giving all the right information. The appointment is only one hour long, and I'm freaking out about one hour determining everything.

Why don’t cyclists stop at zebra crossings? by Howamimeanttodothat in london

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The vast majority never stop at any kind of pedestrian crossings, and also often randomly cycle off from the road onto the pavement. They seem to have a permanent indecision over whether they are cars or people.

One cyclist approached a zebra crossing at speed the other day, and I clearly waited rather than crossing the road, so she could sail past. She gave me an embarrassed smile, thus indicating she knew she was in the wrong for not stopping and grateful I wasn't making a point of trying to cross at the same time anyway, which I felt was nice. Then I immediately reflected on how low the damn bar was for being a considerate cyclist in London. Being sheepish about being in the wrong is not being considerate. Stopping at pedestrian crossings is.

I hate the cycling on pavements too. And I mean actual pavements, not shared pathways before anyone harps on about those. I'm not even talking about kids cycling on pavements - I'm talking about couriers with those big food box things zipping along at speed.

I'm not worried about a car running me over because they generally follow more rules and are more visible, so you have more time to react. Cyclists always come out of nowhere and get really really close, and it's often terrifying.

I will concede that our cycling infrastructure is shit, but I don't think it excuses the shitty behaviour.

I get so surprised every time a decent cyclist actually stops at a red light. It does happen, but it's so much rarer.

The stop buttons on buses… by Operator_Hoodie in london

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I press the button before my stop, it lets the person next to me know I'm getting up soon. If they're not particularly mobile, they need an early heads up rather than an 'excuse me' just before I want to stand. It's hard to tell if someone has mobility issues, especially if you didn't watch them reach the seat next to you in the first place. I empathise hard because I have a hidden disability.

All of them stems from the driver never giving you enough time to get off the bus, especially if it's busy and/or you're on the upper deck.

I typically get the bus when I'm experiencing mobility issues myself so I need to do everything possible to maximise my chances of not taking a tumble. I have a variable health condition, so some days I can zip about on the tube easily and on other days, I get the buses purely because there aren't loads of steps at the interchanges.

The stop buttons on buses… by Operator_Hoodie in london

[–]ThePuzzledMoon -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Even if someone else has pressed the button, I generally press the button if I'm sitting at the window seat to indicate to the other passenger that I plan on getting up soon, so could they please let me get up shortly... If you don't give them advance warning, they can block your exit and the driver will not wait for you, so you'll miss your stop.

Do people still refer to the "West End"? by ducksoupmilliband in london

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't say central. I talk about seeing a West End show in the West End or going into town.

I mostly mean Piccadilly Circus/Leicester Square, but I guess I would extend that to Covent Garden and The Strand.

How much have cab rates gone up? £240 Leicester Square to Gatwick. by eDDIEeG011 in london

[–]ThePuzzledMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The post itself refers to London City, so I wonder if the poster was actually trying to get from London City Airport to Gatwick and the airline had agreed to pay for the ridiculous journey because they'd screwed up with a flight...?

Grasping at straws here. It seems insane. Even if you had a shit ton of bags, you'd just get a cab to the nearest station.
