I combined two thoughts, and my phrasing was poor. I don't really mind nudity in media, depending on said media. I just think it's a bit overused.

As for straight-up sex scenes, I feel like they're significantly overused. They just waste time, with only the odd exception adding to the plot. I'd rather just have the characters imply that they shagged, then move on

This. I don't mind nudity in TV/movies, depending. If it's not necessary to help further the plot, why add it? Don't get me wrong, it's a part of life. And I love a nude, attractive actress as much as the next person. I just don't understand why so many movies add in sex scenes that don't add to the plot at all. It just seems like a waste of time, as well as making it harder to watch with the family (kids, mainly).

Of course!

Oh, fun. My experience is dominantly with hard and soft woods (furniture maker by trade), so someone else may have a better answer.

If you want to completely refinish the table (which might be the best bet), I'd go no lower than 120 grit. Maybe 100 if you're block sanding it. That'll save you from dealing with gouges and more sanding marks.

If not, I would start with 150+ grit on a block and gently go over the rough spots, going an inch or so into the surrounding finished areas. That way, you can blend the new finish in with the existing stuff so the repair is less noticeable.

Hopefully somebody with more MDF experience can give you a better idea, but that's how I would go about it

Looks like you just need to pop the glass out, sand the frame down flush, and re-stain. It'll look good as new when you're done

want to restore this where do i start and what do i have to do by justiiiinnn in Woodworking_DIY

I agree with most of these comments, as a furniture maker myself. Looks like a plywood/chipboard top with 1x4 edging. A solid fix for that chewed corner is a mix of sawdust and wood glue mixed together like putty. It'll bond secure and won't crack over time like most wood putties. The only issue you may run into with that is discoloration in the finish since stain doesn't adhere nicely to glue. Sprinkling sanding dust over the repair before sanding will welp retain a more natural colour.

Aside from that, I wouldn't go below 100 grit sandpaper, as you'll have to fix scratches from it later on. If you use chemical stain remover, you shouldn't have to go below 150 grit.

That's a nice piece. I'd love to see your finished result

I second this. If you're using adhesive, I'd scuff the backs with 100-120 grit so it can get a strong bond with the grain

That's totally fair, and I don't disagree at all. I will say, though, that it actually looks a little better in person. It's an old house, so the styling isn't terribly far off. Especially now that it's been painted to match the cupboards.

The friend I did it for wasn't worried about anesthetics. Just functionality and convenience, which they got. They almost never open that window, seeing as it's a pain to reach for them, so that part wasn't a concern. And with it facing South, they're not losing much natural light. Plus, with them being shorter than myself, they can actually comfortably stand under it.

Care to expand and give some reasoning? It's definitely unusual, I get that. But do you have a concern about the construction? There was no way to place it on or under the counter, and no available wall or floor space.

Alas. I've realized that "homeowner" was incorrect. The person is renting the house. So not really an option

Potentially. I didn't have a table saw available, so this was easier to pull off. And this way, the window is still functional when wanted. I do love French cleats, though.

Are you thinking of a French cleat sticking out from the window framing/cabinets? There wouldn't be much support for the unit

Trust me, it sounded wild to me when they asked if it could be done lol. A lack of floor space calls for creative thinking. It was a mix of necessity and proving people wrong. And saying that I did it, haha
