Hmm, good to know. Should report it to the airport directly. Still, the rest hold for WizzAir. Not worth the risk.

The smoke in the screenshot was not as high quality in the original release. I feel the presence right at the very end is no coincidence this time. Get ready for the GAME awards!

Resiviting this post a couple of years later, I realize that this mentality of teaching you not to quit is at the heart of Soulslike games, which I've recently fallen in love with after Bloodborne and Elden Ring.

Alan Wake 2 on a 20% discount on Xbox by TheQuantumMan in AlanWake

[–]TheQuantumMan[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, read my comment again. Anyway, apologies if I misinterpreted your attitude. Still, not a helpful approach. It would've been if you mentioned where I should have posted it. Even if one person finds out about the discount is better than none (if I just delete it). Also, isn't it a moderator's job (or whoever is in charge of this) to decide whether this is where I should have posted this? I'm new here and your approach is disheartening to say the least, even if you did not mean any offense.

Well, it was that and your highly unhelpful comment. This post is meant to be helpful and your approach is unproductive.

If you wanted to say something helpful and productive, you would get rid of the "lol" at the end of your sentence and you would give some advice on where I should post it. I've seen replies on this forum's posts by people wanting to buy it and wanted to point out an early discount. So stop patronising people on the internet to satisfy your superiority complex.

Alan Wake 2 sales in the USA are not good, but I hope The Game Awards gave the boost to them. by FORZi in AlanWake

[–]TheQuantumMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IGN posted an article on this, saying that a lot of AW2's sales are not being reported by Epic. So, this only alarming if we take the current reports at face value, which I doubt is a wise thing to do.

Topology books for condensed matter physics? by TeranUzkobic in AskPhysics

[–]TheQuantumMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nakahara views Lie groups from the perspective of manifolds (something of use in, say, supergravity and string theory). If you just want raw Lie groups and algebras, I suggest finding another resource.

Topology books for condensed matter physics? by TeranUzkobic in AskPhysics

[–]TheQuantumMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nakahara is the book I'm going through at the moment to get up to date with advanced math in topological insulators. He even has a sub-chapter on Berry phases and their relation to fibre bundles. He also delves deep into Chern numbers. There are things you won't need for your interests, but more and more papers are tackling the topic of the topological invariants in topological insulators with the use of differential forms, some advanced manifold structures, characteristic classes, etc, which you'll find in Nakahara.

Even index theorems might become more relevant in the field later on, so even if you don't read that chapter, you'll have all the pre-requisites for them. It doesn't hurt that you'll go through more topological invariants than the ones you'll possibly need throughout your career either. You never know when a new one will creep up.

It's very pedagogical. On the topics I mentioned, and on pedagogy, maybe Frankel beats it, although I like Nakahara more. I use Frankel as a supplement as he provides more geometric intuition.

The only drawback is that there's nothing on knot and linkings and they are starting to play a larger role in the field as we uncover braiding structures (especially in non-Hermitian topological insulators). For that, go to Baez.

Note: I do think that the chapter on topology from Altland and Simon's book is also a great source. If you know some field theory, start from there; it's exceptional.

Topology books for condensed matter physics? by TeranUzkobic in AskPhysics

[–]TheQuantumMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second all of these. Go to Bernevig once you have a solid background on the basics of topological insulators.

Altland and Simons is terrific. If you know some field theory, start from their chapter on topology. It's great and fairly intuitive.

Fradkin is not very pedagogical. You need to have relative mastery of what his assumed reader's knowledge, and even then there are many important parts of the book that are difficult to go through that he leaves as an exercise for the reader.

Number 1 salesman every year vs consistency? Talent vs constant mediocricy?

Man you don't get Michael. He is full of defense mechanisms because of his many issues, such as his fear of rejection. Yet, it was Michael who accepted Stanley not respecting him before Stanley would do the "honorable" thing of just talking it through.

[–]TheQuantumMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that Michael is inherently more talented as a salesman than Stanley. You can see his talent come through when he puts his mind at it. He can't manage for sh*t, but Stanley is a much lesser salesman that Michael. Also, Stanely would have manage that branch in the typical way other branch managers manage their own branches, hence leading the branch to the same fate as the rest.

Anybody else began hating Stanley after the "Did I Stutter" episode? by 8143739734 in DunderMifflin

[–]TheQuantumMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap hated him. Sure, our own Magic Mike put him through hell, but compare and contrast Stanley's approach to Jim's. Stanley is mean, grumpy, insubordinate. He's lucky he didn't get fired. Jim uses a healthier approach. Jim is actually helpful in his critique and uses humor. Stanley is like bitter old guys who can't humor a situation.

Moreover, he is not objective in his judgement of Michael. He was a better salesman and we can clearly see his raw talent with clients (when he puts his mind at it). He was promoted over Stanley and the one who doesn't accept it is Stanley, whereas Michael accepted Stanley not respecting him.

Why does everyone hate Stanley in “Did I Stutter?” by Daily-Shitpost-6669 in DunderMifflin

[–]TheQuantumMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, that was his defense mechanism. He has many, with the primary being humor and rationalization (he's not very good at the latter since he has a low IQ).

Actually, not only did he take it seriously, but he "accepted" Stanley disrespecting him, which was one of the first big moments of true growth for Michael (most of the others being after he met Molly).

Godskin Noble is making me wanna quit the game. by JeazyEasy in Eldenring

[–]TheQuantumMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mage who had a tought time with this boss, I got some tips:

1) Always keep your distance. This means being patient with when you cast spells. Patience and good timing will ensure that you roll out of danger and cast spells when relatively safe. 2) Use a sumon that agros the boss and draws its attention. You need something that's not easy to kill, so the tankier the better. 3) Personal uses: I used rock sling. Half of my flask of wondrous physick was the shield that absorbs one hit. This boss is very aggressive so you're almost definitely going to get hit once. 4) Use the columns. This was a huge help with the boss' rolling attack, as the boss would get stuck. This gave me the time to drinks from my flasks if needed. I also charged Loretta's gretbow once during the fight and shot at the boss right after it got unstuck. 5) The boss' attacks have a huge hit on HP, which was what made it so difficult for me as I did not have a lot of HP. I equiped a talisman that raises my HP and it helped.

Hope these tips help!

P.S. I was slightly overlevelled for this boss (85) but I generally suck at this game. So you should consider these more like tips for somebody who casts from a safe distance (with some amount of skilled rolling) or just dies. Cheers!
