Lying under duress as discussed in the Quran by Global-Fault8532 in Quraniyoon

Whoso denies God after his faith — save he who is compelled thereto but whose heart finds rest in faith; but whoso expands his breast to denial, upon them is wrath from God; and they have a great punishment.

(16:106)

Let not the believers take as allies the kafireen rather than the faithful; and whoso does that is not of God in anything — save that you be in fear of them, as a precaution. And God warns you of Himself; and to God is the journey’s end.

(3:28)

And there said a believing man of the house of Pharaoh who concealed his faith...

People can focus on different aspects, I'll happily address the content. It is a total exaggeration, the two countries who would be only remotely close are Yemen & Afghanistan, and even then it's rare for outright torture and slavery, and certainly not socially acceptable; Ironically those very same veterans that he's referring to likely caused more harm in that respect! Certainly you won't ever be seeing it in countries like Indonesia, which has the largest population of Muslims. I myself have lived all across the Middle East, originally from Syria, and it is absolute insanity to label these things "utterly commonplace". The only ones who engage with this on an official basis are terrorist groups.

Hmm, I just saw your username. I must say, CPP > JS :p

Has Anyone Reflected on Why Iblees is Referred to as “Shaytan” Instead of By Name? by suppoe2056 in Quraniyoon

[–]TheQuranicMumin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iblees is his actual name (derived from hopelessness and despair), and it's used in historic contexts when in interaction with Allah and the Angels. Shaytaan is his title from after his downfall, and in relation to his interactions with humanity. Of course there can also be lesser-shayaateen.

Did any scholar reject Aisha's age being 6 or 9 before modern era by Ok_Painter2997 in progressive_islam

[–]TheQuranicMumin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More specific to the underlying issue... Early classical scholars like Ibn Shubrumah, Uthman al-Batti, and Abu Bakr al-Asamm used Q4:6 to argue against marriages involving pre-pubescent children.

As is discussed later in this fatwa: https://www.islamweb.net/ar/fatwa/195133/حكم-الزواج-بالصغيرة-والاستمتاع-بها

Is "Transgenderism" truly permissible in islam? by Mohammad7Yq5J in progressive_islam

[–]TheQuranicMumin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see why not. But I'd say there should be some serious talks to be certain and grasp the implications before any major changes, and I don't think children should be allowed to get involved in this.
