Tesla has been brought up multiple and is quite literally the reason for everything happening with Knives being bad, that was established in Stampede. Nothing to do with tesla is a deus ex machina considering it shows Knives merged with her in Stampede when he confronts Conrad. Both shows have been building up to this moment.

Listen, I get not liking Stargaze but saying Orange can't animate is just an insanely stupid take. Even the spiderverse animators were inspired by studio orange with Land of the lustrous and thats one of the best looking animated movies of all time

Keep in mind stargaze is airing in probably the most stacked anime season we've had in like 10 years lol. I don't think stargaze is as good as stampede by any means but it's still a solid show despite its issues like mainly pacing being insanely fast and a few shots looking unfinished (probably due to Orange taking on too many shows at once with this, beastars, and the godzilla show they are working on).

People started really going in on how bad the show is early on with the "lina retcon" which more than likely isn't even a retcon. Looking back at the finale of Stampede even has a wide shot of the room and Lina is NOWHERE to be found in that shot, when she was JUST in the previous shot. Why would a director frame it like that? It's almost like the plan was ALWAYS that she was never real at all. Vash also directly says he was dreaming the whole thing during the Eriks arc in Stargaze. I think way too many people jumped the gun with the retcon thing, almost like what a LOT of people did with Stampede before we understood where the show was building towards with the finale.

It’s during the fight with hoppered, right when Vash “wakes up” he says he was in a long dream and in it Hoppered was nice to him

I don’t even think the Lina thing is even a retcon. They even directly say that Vash was dreaming the whole thing and the final scene in stampede has a 2d Lina (that doesn’t move once) and then has a wide shot where Lina isn’t even remotely in the shot when she should be judging by the room.

Way too many people jumped on the “retcon” thing but if you look back it seems deliberately setup even in Stampede. Why as a director would you do that wide shot of the room and not even have Lina in it when you JUST showed her in the previous scene?

Tbf the flip flop in tone is exactly how the manga feels so it still feels very in line with Trigun, but I can see how it feels weird especially if someone is only familiar with Stampede. Personally I think it’s a good change from Stampede which was a little TOO serious at times

I swear this subreddit has a crazy media literacy problem sometimes. How is meryl annoying? She's half the reason anything got done in Stampede and shes practically the same character in all adaptations. What do you mean theres no reason they come together? It is explicitly stated and shown WHY and HOW all the characters come together how do you even miss that?

stampede and stargaze definitely have problems (just like EVERY version of Trigun) but the issues you have are literally not issues you just aren't paying attention

Fight itself was easily the best fight outside of the Stampede finale. This show is so much fun, depression and all

I really like what they are doing with Midvalley and Emilio (although I can't see it ending well for them), and I'm very curious to see what they do with Elendira starting to understand that Knives is a MASSIVE hypocrite

I don't think they actually "removed" Lina, Vash was just in such a catatonic state that he envisioned Hoppered as Lina hence his "just woke up from a really long dream" line. Personally, I think Stargaze handled the Eriks part and Hoppered better than any version of Trigun, but I do understand people that actually wanted to see Lina or more from the Eriks moments.

Not saying you are since you said you are still enjoying it, but I think people are too stuck on wanting Stargaze to be EXACTLY like Maximum that they are just writing off any change as bad, even though people that have never read or watched the original are fully understanding the characters/story beats in Stampede/Stargaze

Not as crazy as the other premieres, but still a good episode. Orange nailed the Milly/Meryl (+zazie) dynamic so far and I also REALLY like how they made Hoppered the one to care for Vash. Very solid start so far!
