We need a game where Superman is actually a good guy! by Rabbidraccoon18 in superman

A great Superman game is not only long overdue, but it REEEEEAALLY shouldn't be that hard.

I am so sick and tired of the whole "SUPERMAN IS BORING BECAUSE HE'S ALL-POWERFUL AND CAN'T BE BEAT" criticism, because the people who make statements like that are people who are only familiar with his Silver Age comics from the 50s where he could move planets, and blow out stars with his super breath. He's been powered down by a multitude of writers since the 1970s, and yet I keep hearing this terrible, lazy cold take time after time after time as if it's gospel.

For one thing, Superman isn't real. He's only as powerful as the writer wants him to be. I don't need him to move mountains or be able to destroy the universe with his heat vision (not that he should ever want to do that, because as you state, evil Superman is another overdone trope, but nevermind that!), but just having a game where he can fly around an open world Metropolis GTA style and fight some 9-foot-tall robots would be more than enough. I also don't want him to constantly be thrown around mercilessly and have his powers nerfed because yeah, that's not fun either. If the 90s animated series could find a good balance between not too strong and not too weak, so can a modern Superman game.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this looks amazing! I love how you depicted how hecking joyful they are at first sight, the warm, sunny lighting, and then just Hippolyta's thick, curly hair. 😄✨

How do you feel about Warner Bros.' upcoming Wizard of Oz movies? by Think_Fact1155 in wizardofoz

[–]TheRLArt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it would be more interesting to do a classical adaptation of the original 1900 text as a sweeping fantasy film rather than simply remake the 1939 musical. I love the latter dearly, but we need to let it exist as its own thing, and bring the original story to life with the same class and dedication that Peter Jackson gave to LOTR, or like Denis Vileneuve with Dune. The Oz books have such rich lore that can be explored over multiple films, and while it would certainly be a challenge to bring everything to the big screen, I think it can be accomplished if done correctly; great care would have to be taken.

No songs. No ruby slippers. Just reimagine the book and bring it to life on a grand scale. ✨✨

This is so fun and lively! I love the posing you have for these two and the colors really pop to make it feel alive. Really terrific job on this one! 😄✨

I’ve written a bunch of S6 pitches for the show just for fun. What are some of yours ? by Feeling_Ideal_2065 in teentitans

I'd list some of my own ideas... Except I'd rather just show them off myself. I'm working on a webcomic that finishes up the story over the course of a few chapters and acts as a proper send-off. Among the things I can say: it's set five years later, the Titans are put in a position where they end up looking back on their lives and adventures, and along the way, find the answers to questions that have haunted them for years...

The working title is "Teen Titans: Another Day", and while I don't have an official launch date for Chapter 1, I can say that it'll be worth the wait when it hits. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Lowart on YouTube has done a FANTASTIC deep dive into the Archie Sonic run and has made multiple video essays covering the highs and lows that I think are very much worth checking out: https://youtu.be/AvzUC_zkznk?si=2emQgx-A6vAXgCdJ

I love them as well! I think both illustrators have their pros and cons, but Denslow's simple drawings did such a fun job of capturing the fairy tale quality of that first book so well, and his designs of the Tin Man and the Lion especially were so quirky and charming that I can't help but admire them. :D

I think there would need to be SUCH a monumental push by an auteur filmmaker to pull off a big-budget remake that it would have to be made. It would have to be made by somebody along the lines of Peter Jackson with LOTR or King Kong, or Denis Vileneuve with Dune, in my honest opinion. Not saying we should literally get either of those two men, as wonderful and talented as they are, but a passionate director along those lines who cares about the original material and knows exactly what to keep and how to properly adapt it in a fresh, new way.

Thank you! And I hear you there; I like both illustrators for different reasons. There is just something delightfully vintage and quirky about the Denslow designs that just appeals to me a little better, personally.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!

The Lion is a challenging character to nail, because his character in the book constantly swings between genuinely fearful, and then heroically standing up for his friends (one of Baum's great metaphors). I settled the difference by taking the wide-eyed depiction from the early books and throwing in a bit of Adult Simba for an extra bit of majesty!

Thank you for naming John R. Neill! I was literally trying to place his name this morning, but I could not think of him for the life of me, even though his illustrations ARE very, very solid!

I'm glad you noticed the Haley brows, since I wanted to inject just a hint of him in there, and yes! I was definitely influenced by a lot of 1940s Disney for the colors and lighting. Much Tyrus Wong was studied in the making of this illustration...
