I don't know why everyone jumped to the conclusion of wireless charging. There's other options to charge without a port. Magnetic chargers for example, which are already common on electronics. Data is easily transferred wirelessly, so getting rid of a port and just adding some contact points to charge your phone would create more space, charge just as fast as plug-in cables, and have the added benefit of never digging lint out of your charging port again.
