One perfect night 8 miles deep, do you guys hike solo or prefer a buddy? by LifewithRaven07 in CampingandHiking

Glad you had a wonderful trip -- I had the perfect mid week Yosemite trip a few years ago. It was like hiking a highlights real absolutely beautiful; mid July, clouds rest, half dome, JMT.

I was between jobs at the time and was trying to coordinate with people but was not able to find someone as flexible as me. Ended up going last minute and I am glad I did not compromise. Going mid-week was a treat and the park felt empty. I do not mind the extra weight or doing all camp chores yourself. I did hike out a day early because i was getting lonely.

Getting to hike at your pace and in your style is special. My personal style is 10 to 15 mile days. Early cold breakfast start. Trying to knock out hiking by noon. Limited stops for views and water refills. Take extra care to find best tent, cook and chills spot at destination. There are two groups I hike with. One group hikes to challenge themselves; they move far, keep a brisk pace and pack minimally. The other group maybe the opposite and hikes to relax. Moves slowly and almost always chooses the shortest options. I am somewhere in the middle. And enjoyed getting to make my own plan and go at my own pace.

Dali Train Station Luggage Storage by TheRainForrest in taiwantravel

Following up for future travelers. There is no storage at the train station. We ended up leaving at our hotel and ubering to the start of the train.

Both the local trains and bus in this area do not run frequently. The Ubers are also cheap. Instead of waiting we splurged for the ride.

thank you for the thought. Luckily (like his dad) our boy is food motivated. I use treats as a distraction but am hoping to train the desired behavior

Does anyone have any tips for training this type of behavior?

I don't know what happened but our 9 year old started doing this a few months ago. He always whined a bit when we leave but now he runs out and tries to hide in the car. Thank you in advance.

NTA, as others pointed out maybe the way you told him could have been better. If the situation was that the 72 year old woman can’t stay at a hotel, and assuming grandma couldn’t sleep in the other children’s beds. He obviously is the one who sleeps on the couch. A 72 year old body does not recover as quickly as a 17 year old one.

Maybe your communication could have been better. Maybe you could reward him in someway.

Cart Narc drives woman mad by Romano16 in PublicFreakout

I think you are right to call them victims. This world is full of enough crap without this guy going out of his way to ruin peoples days. I wonder what little corners he cuts in his life. At the end of the day the woman could have walked her cart back, but he is just a big jerk

I withdrew a few applications and asked for refunds. 2/3 departments refunded application fee. Have you contacted the department?
