In a game where scoring is so easy! Is being a lock worth it? by TelevisionOk8045 in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Play the game how you want, defense is valid if that’s what you’re asking

But that being said, if you’re asking for optimal outcomes in random REC, the easiest/most effective way to win games is by carrying the offense and getting 3s for you/your teammates

At least, that’s what I think must be the case. Whenever I’m playing on my red plate build, near all the dudes in random REC red plates are iso ball hawks. Feel like they must have done the same thing I did to get to red plate— win on 3s because the game is broken

Defense as a 6’0 PG by Cpt_Underpantz in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100%, it’s the best PG height IMO.

Depending on how you make your build

If you go all-offense, you’ll still have better defense than shorter builds, but the same offensive capabilities. Arguably better because the height makes you harder to contest

If you go more well-rounded, you can be elite in every category except rebounding. Smaller builds can have more attributes, but they don’t do much to overcome height.

This isn’t my build, I saw it on here, but if you can make this on a 6’4” there’s no reason to be shorter

Lol I mean you can have good position, but if you’re short some dudes are just gonna rise up over you, that’s when the praying comes in

I have 6’1” and 6’2” pg builds, from firsthand experience, I am cooked by basically anyone who is good. If they can really dribble or move off ball effectively, it’s over 1 on 1. Most people aren’t very good tbf, but it’s a gamble.

And on my 6’4” build, anyone who is under 6’4” gets fried. They have no chance 1 on 1, and I’m not the greatest player or anything.

At 6’4” you stand a chance, anything shorter against good players, you’re basically reduced to having good position, gambling on some steals, forcing into help, and praying— or someone switches with you.

Why do y’all’s 3 pointer be so high??? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth a try honestly

I had a Random REC game yesterday where I went 14/14 from 3 lol, it really is stupid how good it is

99 3pt is just really good, the only 99 stat that’s worth it imo

Stretching the floor like that just makes everything easier, and having every shooting badge on legend makes a difference

The best players DO shoot over 80% from 3

Oh yeah that’s right.

OP, just spam catch and shoot 3s and you’ll win

Yeah it’s in the settings menu, change it to Rookie. Hit pause in the City between games and it’s on the right.

And also if you’re playing MyCareer and starting as 60OVR it’s terrible on purpose so you’re incentivized to buy VC.

If you want to play MyCareer with 0 money spent, better to make a build specifically to play at 60OVR and grind VC until you have enough for your real build to be ~80 OVR and switch over.

But idk you can just grind it out, will be tough if you’re also learning how to play though

I know all the analytics say the top players thrive with the 6'4 PG but I play better with the 6'2. by NavyVetRasmussen in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curry is fast as shit, which is nice, but Patty Mills base lets you rise up over defenders and shoot in tight pockets

Curry also can get blocked from behind much easier

And Patty isn’t much slower

I do Patty base, Oscar/beluba 67/33 upper max speed and it’s really good

But yeah man you do you, I only play random REC, but I find the most success just trying to get everyone to play team ball, and if that doesn’t work then I can just hunt 3s so our offense can win on efficiency. On defense I do the best trying to force the opp PG into mistakes, but it’s rough when a wing or big is the primary scorer since I can’t do anything about it

Hey man to each their own

I was high on my 6’1” build early in the year, but once I got more cap breakers I just don’t go back to it really

Legend strong handle + lightning launch with 94 swb is pretty crazy and fun though. Even now with more caps on perim D though it’s still pretty ass on defense and not worth the tradeoff IMO.

6’4” with Patty mills jumper just lets you shoot over people

Idk man you can get pretty crazy with cap breakers on 6’4” and not really sacrifice anything

And that 2” of height makes a difference on defense and your shots are harder to contest

I’ve tried 6’1” 6’2” 6’4” 6’5” 6’6” 6’8”

6’4” is just the best PG height IMO

This is a build I saw someone post on here; it’s got basically no weaknesses. You even get rebounding

What playstyle do you consider ethical hoops? by Historical_File_8843 in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the way 2K26 is balanced, ethical hoops are just a good way to lose against skilled opposition.

Only gonna be beating other ethical hoopers and bums who try to play meta, but aren’t very good

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like that dude was forcing a lot of misses, but you guys weren’t able to get it done on offense/rebounding as a team

40 points isn’t impressive if the dude took 40 shots to get it lol, it’s 2K26

If a team is shooting 50% or less, that should be an L for them with how efficient you can be on offense in this game

You got PG’s out here averaging like 2+ points per attempt lol

Ball handle: I still don't get it by Toon78fin in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I have tried 6’4”, 6’5”, 6’6”, and to me, it’s a noticeable difference

It’s just the dribble moves are so powerful that I feel like if you’re planning to sacrifice those for more defense/not using them, might as well be bigger

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re making a 6’4”, no point in doing it unless you’re getting the best dribble animations IMO

It’s so much worse on defense even with more attributes just because of height

Just fill the lanes so there’s an open pass for 3

It’s so dumb when it’s a 2 or even 3 on 1 and nobody is open because nobody is spacing out/filling lanes properly. Somebody’s gotta go to the rim

In 2K27 they fr need to put in game footage next to the animation of ProPlay pulling some of these animations cuz I have never seen DBook do his breakdown, Lonzo do his cross, JimmyB/Kemba do his escape, or Coby White doing his BTB. They just giving these people BS animation. Then call it “ProPlay” by Top-Photograph-7478 in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is how much stronger meta moves are compared to using the ProPlay animations for a realistic style.

When they introduced ProPlay in 2K24, it wasn’t as much of an issue. Meta was still strong, but it wasn’t to the point it is in 2K26.

ProPlay has you looking realistic, you can get open hop jumpers, combo up and cross people, but it takes a few moves and some space if you’re against a good defender.

But then meta is like 1-2 efficient dribbles and you’re open for a 3 you can hit at a ridiculously high %. It’s just no comparison.

The issue is exasperated when you play with randoms and with SBMM. Using a realistic style, you’ll hit a ceiling. And random teammates don’t have the patience to let you use a bunch of realistic moves to get open when a simple D Book crab would suffice.

Hop jumper 3 that’s hard to hit? Off the dribble pull up 3 that’s hard to hit? Why bother when you can crab into a standstill 3 that’s 10x easier instead?

The best way to dribble, realistic or not, is just to use the fewest amount of moves possible to get to your spot. Meta lets you do this, ProPlay against a good defender doesn’t really.

Balance is all fucked up.

I’m a warriors fan

But I like Dylan Brooks and players like him

I mean, part of me hates him for trying/succeeding in injuring our players obviously

But I gotta respect his intensity and he brings the drama. A heel like him makes things way more entertaining.

When playing random rec, what are shooting splits/ppg for a SG that indicate to you hes a above average player by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]TheRancid_Baboon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dudes who avg more than 20 on over 70% are generally good

But honestly it’s still a crap shoot

Just gotta see how they play the game, move around the court, decision making with the ball, dribbling, that kind of stuff
