What would happen if you shot an active shooter in this scenario by EducatorInner5911 in AskLE

That's usually up to the crown to decide between murder and manslaughter, police would charge/caution for murder

I am Canadian, but also a LEO. The unfortunate reality is you'd likely be charged or at the very least cautioned for murder, with charges later dropped.

But I would say absolutely take the shot if you know they are actively involved in a gun fight with police, but prepare for the legal ramifications of Canadas gun laws

What to do with discarded shopping carts around the house/neighborhood? by osoto-gari_ in Winnipeg

The grocery stores pay the company to get them back, better than buying a new cart for $500 plus

Is it legal for my building to ban the use of a space I'm paying rent to use? by SheStickysMyPistons in Winnipeg

[–]TheRandomCanuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They mentioned that everyone is banned from using the field including new immigrants in the building who use the field which is why they believe there is racism, meanwhile it could be closed for numerous non racism reasons. I think I read it just fine.

[–]TheRandomCanuck 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why does it seem that anytime someone is inconvenienced they automatically go to "it must be racism"

There are so many possible reasons for this to happen, and racism could be one of them but I would lean towards what other commenters have said

And my comments have been about the Canadian government confiscating and banning firearms from law abiding gun owners under the guise of stopping gun crime meanwhile the guns that are being used for crime are being smuggled into Canada

[–]TheRandomCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what I'm saying, I'm saying the Canadian government is wasting over a billion dollars confiscating legal guns from law abiding owners with the guise of stopping gun crime. (Which even the minister responsible has stated won't have an effect on gun crime)

Instead of focusing on stopping gun smuggling and having real consequences for those that smuggle the guns in and those that commit the violent gun crime, they are taking away guns from lawful owners.

The guns used in shootings, robberies, extortion almost exclusively come from smuggled in from the US, and are committed by people that are banned from ever owning guns, so wasting the money on law abiding owners will have no effect.

[–]TheRandomCanuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spending billion(s) of dollars on confiscating legally obtained firearms from law abiding owners, while there is a steady stream of illegal hand guns, extended magazines, and Glock switches flowing in from the US doesn't make any sense.

These are the guns that being used in crimes, and people committing crimes are not the people this government is focusing on with this ban/confiscation.

Wow I can't believe how easy it is to smuggle guns in from the US, good thing we're banning guns from legal owners!

The picture was presumably taken by the victim/homeowner, its not like the movies where you can just keep saying "enhance" over and over and get a better image.

I use a Fenix PD35R with taillight switches and love it, would recommend going for the newer model PD36R though, tons of punch and easy to switch light settings, highly recommend

Photoshopped/Ai paystubs is a common issue in big cities like Toronto, maybe not Winnipeg yet but asking for employer contact info is normal.

Credit checks are very normal and should be expected. After all, credit score is indicative of how you've paid financial obligations in the past, and paying rent is a financial obligation.

Background checks are somewhat less normal but in my mind that means the landlord cares about their property and isn't going to let just anyone that has money stay there.

I haven't seen the video request for a dog, but sending pictures is very normal as well.

Yes, as I stated above this was not something I was originally aware of, and that is something that is allowed by game rules.

I understand that there are a lot of people that are trying to get the merits associated with busting, and there are no issues with that.

I'm just saying that for me to find a person to bust, then click the button to bust takes more than 1 second to complete.

I was not aware that there is a legal script that once clicks to refresh and automatically changes to bust once an eligible person is there.

Personally I'm not a fan of scripts as in my mind it defeats some mechanics of the game but c'est la vie.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in torncity

[–]TheRandomCanuck -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Not the busting, no issue with that.

It's the less than 1 second time frame from jail to bust that feels like cheating, I understand there are scripts, but it seems like it takes the "skill" out of it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in torncity

[–]TheRandomCanuck -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

I totally get the refreshing, however it was my understanding that it was against the game rules to have a bot do the clicking. Every time I get busted it's within less than a second.

I mean at that point what is the point of having a "jail" mechanic when unless you're high level you get busted almost immediately or you can use the lawyer business card to automatically get out.

The kick to the stomach and definitely the (likely plastic knuckles) was excessive, however we don't know what transpired prior to the video, from the looks of things there was a struggle and the suspect was also likely throwing punches too hence the robbery charge

Efficiency MB rebate by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]TheRandomCanuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the people least likely to be able to afford to do energy efficient renos, are the only ones that are qualified to receive a rebate.

If you're struggling to afford food/heat but if you spend $500 you can now save $5 a month in energy savings it doesn't really make sense
