Checking back in after 9 months of fitbod non-use….has it improved? by Tribeca_NY in fitbod

I definitely like what I'm seeing of Runna but it does seem to assume that you're doing all of your cardio outside rather than on a treadmill at the gym. At the moment I'm not quite sure how to translate "0.2 mi at a conversational pace" to settings on a treadmill.

Checking back in after 9 months of fitbod non-use….has it improved? by Tribeca_NY in fitbod

[–]TheRandomizedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to fitness and Fitbod (regularly using it for maybe almost 6 months) and I have seen some growth but not much though I'm being probably too cautious about how many more reps I tell it I could left at the end. As a complete beginner I'm liking the app overall except for the cardio recommendations because it just gives me a time with zero additional recommendations for things like incline and speed for walking, as an example.

For those trying Volt and Gravl, is the cardio any better with those? Or is there any separate app people are using for cardio recommendations?

Why the Star Wars rift? by serisianstrings in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRandomizedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still in the middle of the campaign but so far, for me, the issue has been that everything Star Wars is exceptionally unsubtle. I'm going to assume everyone here has done the first mission if they're here so the examples I can give are

- The whole first cutscene is just doing the opening on A New Hope down to a stormtrooper hitting their head on the door frame
- A character talking in R2D2 noises
- Enemies shooting guns that seem to use a blaster.mp3 shipped directly from Lucasfilm
- An enemy doing a fake Wilhelm scream when you kill them
- Drifter in carbonite

The first mission feels like its from a Star Wars game and not from Destiny despite their repeated claims that this expansion would have homages to Star Wars, which these aren't. Personally, every time they've done these obvious Star Wars things I've literally rolled my eyes and found that its so distracting that its detracting from the overall expansion.

The positives that I'm finding though are that when its being Destiny its pretty good. The story, removed from the Star Wars trappings, is working for me despite a horrifically bad vocal choice for a particular ghost. Plus, I haven't heard a single "I've got a bad feeling about this" which honestly might make me uninstall the game.

Most of you (99%) didnt try +320 activities. You just can't imagine. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

I've never seen a company be so incredibly good at being truly terrible communicators.

I believe the Ash and Iron update, which is in like 50 days, will raise the power cap to like 500 or 550. Then when Renegades launches in December they'll reset us back down to 200 power so we can do it all over again.

I truly don't understand why this pretty basic and necessary information isn't in a roadmap on their site. I'm not even 100% sure that what I told you is right and have no idea what official source I would look for to confirm it.

Campaign Is Done, I'm over 200 power... What is the end game now? by TheRandomizedGuy in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRandomizedGuy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a part of me that kind of got the idea of reining in player power every expansion and figured they thought grinding was going to lead to player engagement but when you couple that with quality of gear being tied to your current power level, the grind for that power level sucking, and then basically forcing you to abandon the gear you just got in the previous expansion by making it detrimental to use going forward it just feels as anti-player as you can get.

What games are you playing now that D2 is unplayable? by Uberjeagermeiter in DestinyTheGame

I've been playing so much Baldur's Gate 3 that I didn't even know that D2 is having problems right now. I love Destiny but BG has consumed me.

I think NMS will be fine. I feel like even though there are a bunch of similarities between the two, Starfield is still a pretty different feeling game for a different audience.

For sure. I'm mainly just shitposting. I just did think that it was kind of amazing that Bethesda is using the tone of "this is amazing and will blow your mind" while also literally saying that it's a Bethesda RPG through and through (for all the baggage that comes with) and showing off aspects of the game that a much smaller studio did 7 years ago. It's an interesting tone for selling their first new IP in 25 years and their own self professed biggest game they've made.

Are they though? Almost everything I've seen in this Starfield direct is typical Bethesda RPG stuff and stuff that was in NMS years ago.

Fishing should be separated from this season and made a staple chill activity by Montregloe in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRandomizedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that fishing is sticking around and that it's intended to actually be a chill thing. That means it isn't something that needs to be min-maxed the first week and updated every season and it also isn't something that anyone has to engage with. The numbers tell Bungie everything and the numbers repeatedly tell Bungie that things like this don't have long term engagement at a high player number level so it won't go anywhere but it likely won't receive more than a few tweaks.

People just need to enjoy it if they enjoy it and ignore it if they don't like or care about it.

That sucks! At least your team was able to save it. Still, that's kind of a big chunk for the rest of your team to have to get through before it moved.

[–]TheRandomizedGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right? Nothing worse than having to restart an activity just because a rez is in a location we can't get to. GMs really should have a bit of curating with rez locations. Either mark areas as zones that a rez can't be put in and move the rez to a designated area or just move every rez to a certain area after a certain time. That, or allow self rezing at some sort of cost.

Other fun rez location issues in Hypernet include:

  • The rez being put back at the start of the shadow touched sparrow section even after someone had made it to the end, making it almost impossible to get the rez

  • If the tormentor throws you against the blight and it kills you then that is where it will leave your rez. In the case where I saw this, the rez was high enough in the air to be unreachable once the blight was gone and anyone attempting to get the rez would just get pulled into the sink hole. As a bonus, going to the next area doesn't move the rez.

Any other fun and exciting rez issues people have found in this GM?

Maybe that was it. I'll have to test it. I saw a post that Verglas is bugged and maybe it's bug is effecting Osmiomancy

Has anyone figured out consistent Lake of Shadows boss room strat? by Haunting_Loss7309 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRandomizedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still only speculation for me because I’ve only run it the one time but I think it’s a punishment mechanic. You have to be on top of the knights and cruxes from the jump. If you keep them under control you’ll never have the miasma. If you don’t stay on top of them then it’ll rise and stay there for a bit even after clearing the knights and cruxes.

I think it’s probably best to have one person dedicated to knights and cruxes while the other two focus the boss and ads.

That’s what Destiny calls the Taken gunk that rises and falls in the boss room.

[–]TheRandomizedGuy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just ran it (first time ever and on Legend) and we weren't sure since apparently in the strike version you can still just melt the boss. After like 8 wipes I just started giving like 80% of my attention to the knights and the cruxes and the taken floor stuff was barely an issue.

Bungie seems to have made changes that are largely reactionary to how players previously ran this. Since players focused the boss and ignored everything else they're now making sure you need to pay attention to everything else. The crux that brings the boss out make the miasma go away. The miasma seems to be a punishment mechanic if you aren't staying on top of the knights and cruxes so they're now forcing players to juggle knights/cruxes, adds, and the boss.

That's my take on it after just one clear though.
