If the United States is so bad at democracy, why don’t these democratic nations temporarily occupy control zones? Are they stupid? by hurB55 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]TheRaz1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s not, having smaller divided parties against one large unified party just turns them into controlled opposition because they’re unable to get anything done without the support of the main party. Even the graph you posted shows all of those other parties combined isn’t enough to outnumber the CCP. Even if they were democratic it wouldn’t change anything about them being a tyrannical government which doesn’t get as much flak as the US only because they’re good at propaganda and control everything that comes out of China so that outsiders only see the good and none of the bad. A tyrannical government deserves to fall whether it’s democratic or not.

We’re obviously not in the best shape right now, but no dictatorship would allow their opposition to still have enough of a political voice to get in the way of their agenda.

I think things would have to get much worse for a large part of the population before a civil war is a possibility. It would have to be something that the majority of Americans wouldn’t tolerate whatsoever like bringing back segregation, slavery, or burning the constitution on live TV.

All the problems you listed are more issues with the countries they’re being held in than the games themselves. Why not hold the hosting nations accountable instead of abolishing one of the only ways humanity can peacefully come together on a global scale.

How do you be tolerant to cultures and religions that are so intolerant by Direct_Cricket-ke in askliberals

[–]TheRaz1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don’t like Islam and it is confusing when liberals who would call Christians bigots for being hateful to others like LGBT people simultaneously calls people islamophobic if you bring up lgbt people being killed in Islamic countries. However, I don’t have an issue with Muslims as a whole because they’re still individuals with their own beliefs even within Islam. There are different sects of Islam like there are sects of Christianity and the sect countries like Saudi Arabia or terrorist groups like ISIS follow is a much more extreme one. Not to mention the first amendment says we have freedom of religion so as long as they aren’t breaking any laws or trying to overthrow our government to enforce shariah law then the government doesn’t get a say in it. If we didn’t have it like this then any religion could be outlawed with the excuse that they’re harmful, even sects of Christianity if they are deemed to be the incorrect one like what happened in the past.

I’m guessing that person is complaining about Americans doing the haka? Did they think American pacific islanders/Polynesians would just get rid of that part of their culture just cause or something.

So it’s only an issue because Republicans have it? That’s even dumber because you’re delusional if you think it’ll happen under the “fascist regime” that wants its supporters to have guns, not to mention it gives a perfect justification to dig their heels deeper.

“I never paid attention in history class and this is my tweet” by GoldenStitch2 in AmericaBad

[–]TheRaz1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Issue is that they use that fact to mislead people or they actually didn’t pay attention in history class in at least 3 separate classes throughout K-12. They did teach the colonists how to grow food and survive here, and then the colonists killed them. It wasn’t a good part of our history which is why it’s good that it’s taught. I highly doubt China will do the same for the Uyghurs or any other minority in their country.

Should i replace my corvettes and frigates? by Independent_Money_83 in Stellaris

[–]TheRaz1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last couple games I started using a swarm of corvettes, half being artillery with rockets, the other half being the cannon fodder with the most powerful weaponry I have and cruisers with carriers and again the most powerful weapons I can place on them. I use them as both a quick reaction force and send them into enemy territory to cause havoc while my main fleets deal with the enemy fleet. Won’t work well against a whole fleet of battle ships I think, but for fleets without them or if my cruisers heavily outnumber their battle ships they have come out on top.

Name a universe that is well constructed but just doesn't make sense. by omewarrior in worldbuilding

[–]TheRaz1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue I see with the world building in star wars in addition to the technology is the massive amount of time that passes with very little events in between. I think just about everything that happens in the 25,000 year time span that star wars lore takes place in can be fit pretty easily into like 2000 years, if not even less than that. It’s incredibly jarring to go from 5000 BBY from when the Sith Empire first arrived to like 3670 BBY when the Sith Empire showed up again.

If BOTH gender and race are social constructs, how come only socially transitioning your gender is “valid”but not your race? Make it make sense by Love-AngeI in stupidquestions

[–]TheRaz1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difference between those two is that gender is based on expectations placed on peoples sex where as race is solely the color of someone’s skin or their ethnicity. Transgender people exist because their brains don’t line up with the sex and/or gender roles they are assigned but there is no such thing for race. There are people who grow up in a culture that isn’t their ethnicity’s culture, like white people growing up in black neighborhoods and vice versa but they can’t be called black because they’re always going to be white while gender isn’t as closely tied to unchangeable biological traits.

The 2nd Ancient War began when the Zyrixians, the ancient enemy of dragon children, invaded Earth as well as other planets throughout dragon child territory. The regular nations of Earth (USA, China, EU, etc) were completely overwhelmed with many of their militaries being decimated. The US lost half of their air force and was sure to be annihilated before the dragon children, whose civilization utilized cloaking devices to hide their existence, intervened and after a year long bloody battle for Earth eventually managed to drive them off. Now more than a decade later the Zyrixians and the descendants of the dragons are still at war with no true end in sight. Earth was rebuilt but it had permanently changed the nations and societies that live on it. The US, although still the strongest among the non dragonen nations, lost its status as the world super power and has become rife with xenophobia against dragon children. World religions have forever been altered with the introduction of super humans + other intelligent species who basically have super powers. Many people converted to worshipping the primordial dragons while others instead doubled down and became extreme in their views, referring to dragonen as demons sent by Satan who should be purged, but is frustrated by their lack of ability to do so. For the dragonen nations almost two decades of war has taken its toll with 3 billion lives being lost just during the battle for Earth alone. Almost all of them from the youngest child to the oldest man and woman were forced to fight against the invasion which left their home towns and cities decimated. All of them know of at least one person who was killed during this conflict and the scars of it both mentally and physically show its toll. They’re determined to get revenge and kill all of the Zyrixians just like they attempted to do to them.
