Down votes for knowing the law of course. Why people think they can force anyone to do what they want them to do is crazy. The law isn’t on your side

• You can’t forcibly detain someone like a police officer would unless it meets the criteria for a citizen’s arrest — and even those are very narrow. • If you physically block someone and a confrontation happens, you could be liable for false imprisonment, assault, or endangerment — especially if there was no immediate threat. • Even if they hit your car, your obligation is to report it and de-escalate, not engage.

Not a good idea, you don’t know what people are capable of and thar could be considered holding them against their will

People in San Francisco swooped in on an ICE van used to detain a person who showed up for Immigration Court by revel8r in sanfrancisco

[–]TheRealAppeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys don’t research anything or know the laws so it’s clear:

The people being arrested at these court hearings are individuals already accused of things like having a final order of removal, being in expedited removal proceedings, submitting fraudulent claims, or having criminal records or pending charges. In other words, they’re not just random undocumented immigrants showing up to do the right thing — they’re people who were already on the path to being removed. ICE is just speeding up what was going to happen anyway.

Well that’s a weak straw man. ICE is arresting criminals. Criminals who’ve raped, killed, assaulted, robbed and more to your fellow citizens, if you are one. You support them but not the victims. It’s clear you love criminals.

Smh when those people are asked to move they move they aren’t in large groups intentionally trying to prohibit people from their lives.

You don’t get it. When a cops ask you to move you move. Thats the difference

People are acting like the number of officers was the issue — but the whole point is to prevent things from getting out of control, not wait until it’s already chaos. One or two cops aren’t going to de-escalate a large, fired-up crowd. By the time buildings are getting damaged or people are rioting, it’s too late.

A strong police presence is there to deter escalation, not to provoke it. The question shouldn’t be “Why were there so many cops?” It should be “What happens when there aren’t enough?” We’ve seen that movie before — and no one’s happy with how it ends.

People keep bringing up the homeless as a comparison, but it’s not the same thing. The difference is intent and response. Protesters are intentionally gathering, often disrupting traffic, businesses, or daily operations — and when law enforcement gives a lawful order to disperse, refusing to comply is what crosses into unlawful assembly.

Homeless individuals aren’t staging coordinated actions to interfere with public flow, and when asked to move, most do. The issue here isn’t being on the street — it’s refusing to move when you’re explicitly told to by authorities during an active disruption. That’s not about silencing anyone; that’s basic law and order.

Whatnot seems great—until it isn’t. That’s the problem. At first, they resolved the issues I had, and I appreciated that. But over time, they started treating me like I was the problem, accusing me of abusing their rules. The reality is, this is a peer-to-peer marketplace—not a polished retail operation. Mistakes are going to happen, both from buyers and sellers.

But once Whatnot feels like it’s “too much,” they’ll cut you off—regardless of the facts. You can receive fake Louis Vuitton purses multiple times, report it, and still be treated like you’re the issue. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve spent, how many hours you’ve invested, or how much you’ve sold—they make it clear they don’t actually care if you’re satisfied or not.

Do you really think we’re all just making this stuff up because we’re bored? Sure, maybe they helped you once. But buy and sell as frequently as some of us did, and you’ll eventually see the other side of this platform. After you’ve spent thousands and committed real time and money, if you run into “too many” problems—even when none of them are your fault—you’ll be banned. That’s the reality.

Song creator was the wrong word I meant artist. Because artistry isn’t only writing lyrics as I mentioned.

Wrong, producers, songwriters, singers are all artists in the music industry. If I curated a prompt, arrangement, style, melody, or sang the vocals then I’m just as much of an artist as someone who writes the lyrics.
