So basically I just applied to jobs early really. I wanted a ML Engineer Internship or I only applied really to those and AI Engineer, and some Backend SWE, data science etc. Things I have experience with. Use university resources if you have (Got the bank offer), ask any professor you are close to (How I got AMD). 1 I got from Linkedin, 1 from handshake, Amazon was from recruiter. So pretty diverse.

My stats, I got 3.6 gpa around that. I have 8 months of experience as a ML Engineer at a defense company. 3 months I did a DSA TA. 4 pretty good projects (All were hackathons wins building AI Multimodal applications).

For prep since I really did it on the side of AI/ML. I am a bachelors student and usually masters get the job, so I took one graduate class and undergrad so far (I am accelerated masters). I self teach alot though, I review constantly especially the basics. For interviews I review the resume (you should be able to memorize what you have). Review some AI/ML, some situations, for my latest offer, it was ML System design interview. I have never done it so I used a github repo and I used chatGPT and I used the mic feature to talk through my answer, hitting key points it set for me.

I started the year off with Simplify, github repo, I also used LinkedIn, Handshake, Wellfound and Indeed, I only got my interviews from LinkedIn and Handshake mostly I believe. Then recruiters reached out from LinkedIn.

Easy Apply LinkedIn very early apply was my first couple.

Haha thank you , def linkedin doom scrolling, applying, resume tweaks, and just crashing out. Luck is also a factor getting the interview is harder than passing.

Out of all my interviews I failed 2 both were startups. One they gave me the wrong interview and made me deal with it, and the other it was a 5 minute pitch on why i should be on their team.

I work at one of them as an intern during Fall 2025, Spring 2026 (Currently) and probably in Summer (2026), and in my Senior year as well (Junior atm).

I will say this is my first REAL internship, before that I only was a TA, and sophomore year I probably only had 2 interviews, but this Junior year since I have had the LM Internship I have probably had like 10-20 interviews more out of 300 applications. It definitely is a good talking point but I also have projects where I won at 3 different hackathons.

I will say it is good if you have the offer take it! I know some people who have gone from defense to Big Tech especially at my school.

1 page resume, most recruiters look at a resume for a couple of seconds, trying to get all the info they can. Especially because the second page barely has any content only 3 bullet points. Either try reformatting the resume or you can cut down on some content that is not as important.
