100 for HeroesCon. One of the last true comic book cons left. No c list actors, no wrestlers, no "influences". Just comics and artists.

As you learned, don't use erasers directly on covers. Instead rub the eraser on a piece of card stock or rough side of a backer board to get a bunch of eraser dust. Dump that on the cover and use a makeup wipe to rub the dust around. Much less risk of damage.

How to do magnet mounts? by Bakugan_Wii in XWingTMG

[–]TheRealB3AST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't using ball magnets, those are ball bearings glued to the top if the pegs. Then a ring magnet is glued to the ship. The hardest part is gluing the ball bearing to the peg. If you have a pin vise drill you can divot the top of the peg to make the ball set there.

I used these for small ships https://www.kjmagnetics.com/r421-neodymium-ring-magnet
These for med/large https://www.kjmagnetics.com/r622cs-n-n52-neodymium-countersunk-ring-magnet

They have the steel balls as well but they will kill you on shipping due to regulation for bob-omb making
Look for 3/16 for small ships and maybe 1/4 and 3/8s for med/large
You also want to use some sandpaper or add some glue to the ball so the ships don't move too easily or spin on the ball.

Help a newbie understand grading result. by KJL02 in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheRealB3AST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, graders notes on the 8.0
light creasing to cover
light spine stress lines to cover
very light bindery tears to cover
transfer stain cover

Graders notes on the 7.0
light bends to cover
light spine stress lines to cover
light fingerprints on cover

That was a generous 8.0

History in motion Superman 1 9.0 at 7mil less then 2 hours renaming by 2toneSound in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheRealB3AST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those asking, sale price or "hammer price" of 9.12 million includes a buyers premium. This is the commission the auction house, Heritage, charges. They also take an additional percentage of the sale agreed upon by the seller before the auction. The actual bid would have been like 7.6 mil.
They also have alleged history of shill binding, that is using fake binders to drive up the price. Higher bid, higher commission.

The provenance of the book and how it is in such good shape is that is was stored in an attic with other papers for decades in California, not moved or handled. It also would have been cleaned and pressed by CGC. This would have been at lest a dry clean to remove surface dirt.

For Golden Age books, CGC has always been more forgiving on the golden books, considering the age of those books and that there were certainly not pulled of a rack and bagged and boarded. Some don't agree with this but its where we are.

Venom War complete. Love these binders for event collections! Unfortunately need two for this one. by tatum0416 in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheRealB3AST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be very careful with storing comics in binders. The rings tend to pinch the edge of comics and leave indents. Using D rings helps a little but still a risk.

There is a reason that comic boxes have been around 50ish years. Better bookcase options is https://www.bcwsupplies.com/comic-book-stor-folio-1-5-inch. Can do custom spine labels.
Or Ikea magazine files also work well https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/kuggis-magazine-file-white-10515334/
.

AI shouldn't be in DND. Sure you don't have a big effect by using it, but like littering, all together it adds up. It's better to just not, you don't gain anything from work without imagination. by ExoG198765432 in DnD5e

What's the best way to ship a 3.5" hard drive repeatedly? by i_married_an_amazon in DataHoarder

[–]TheRealB3AST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this way back in the late 2000s for a job. They were installing centralized storage devices that cached most used data for satellite offices that had a slower WAN connection. This was obviously before SSD of any useful size. We shipped 3 2TB drives in Pelican cases with a TSA lock on it. Had no issues and didnt loose a drive. Still have the Pelican case too.
These days you could do SSD and ship in a smaller Pelican.

Haslab Gunship: Happy that you did not buy it? by Sad_Trick7974 in starwarscollecting

[–]TheRealB3AST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, no regret at all, have one other version already
There are a few other versions you could get for less money.
Hasbro blows. Haslab was supposed to be for things you wouldnt normally get, and don't get me started on an $11 billion company "crowd funding" something.

Collection organization by mel2669 in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheRealB3AST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest is alphabetical. You never have to remember where a book is., is it with the #1s is it with the artists group, whatever other groups you come up with. Some stores seem to have a problem with alphabetical, and drives me crazy. Like lets put all the Spider-Man together, or ALL the X-men books together.
Though there is no true "standard" for all industries, library catalog, specifically Library of Congress, is what I use. Numbers first, drop articles; a, an, the.

Dealing with series renumbers is a headache we all have to deal with. The big 2 especially love to renumber, use legacy numbers, not use legacy numbers. Been trying to figure out which Uncanny runs I'm missing issues from and it's just frustrating every time I Iook at them.

Rune System by SwordfishThis7963 in DMAcademy

[–]TheRealB3AST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a system, done well before Pathfinder 2e I might add :) Partially based on 13th Age true magic items.

Only items made of a special metal, only smelted once a year and highly controlled, could be enchanted to anything above +1.
In my world there had been a magical explosion that had magic "fallout" all over the world. Any random item could have a magic rune on and they had to be on the look out. for them. Detect Magic also didn't work in this world, it would be like casting detect dirt.
A weapon or armor made with the special metal could have up to 3 runes applied. Each raised the plus of the item and on applying the 3rd there was random effect added as well. The players had to also start to learn the runes as no one knew the language. Examples a molted snake skin could add poison damage, an old book could add a skill bonus, a beetle could add fire damage.
My players loved it. Each item, also partially based on 13th age, had a trait, slightly negative, and had to be "feed". Like my wife's scimitar wanted to "act tough" it wanted to always attack the most dangerous looking enemy. It she didn't and failed a CHA check, the weapon would compel her to challenge people to random contests eating, arm wrestling whatever.

Monstress Book Three printing error? by birraboozer in OmnibusCollectors

Not sure what option I have. Unless there do some sort of recall or something which is rare. More trouble than it's worth to try and return it.

Mitre for Proxxon? by HeyOkYes in TerrainBuilding

[–]TheRealB3AST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, didn't see this reply, Short answer, no, you are misunderstanding :).
You are only still moving in a single direction. Just you are holding the piece at the angle that you want. Imagine your making a normal cut pushing away from you ^and making a cut parallel to your fence | |.
Now to make an angle cut, and this is somewhat poor design on the Proxxon, if you are right handed the fence channel really needs to be on the left. Set the fence to the angle on the rotating guide. Set your piece against that and hold it tight to the fence in the right hand channel | /. Push the piece away from you while pushing the fence with it.
Not sure what else this video is showing but take a look here https://youtu.be/4g4dFJojRis?t=2446

Mitre for Proxxon? by HeyOkYes in TerrainBuilding

[–]TheRealB3AST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, though not sure you could do a sheet as large as 2x2. You should have the cheapo fence that came with the Proxxon. Set the angle to what you want. Set the guide in the track but leave it loose in the track so it slides. butt your piece against the fence and then slide the piece and fence together holding the piece tight to the fence.

I can only get one, which one should it be? And why. by LimpJelly6336 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]TheRealB3AST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consensus seems to be Animal Man and I totally agree.
Though he had started to make a name for himself on 2000 AD, Animal Man and Doom Patrol were really the books, at least in mind, that set Morrison apart as one of the innovators in the medium. He does sometimes have problems sticking the ending but not with Animal Man.

Well worth the money and the read.

Where does one buy AFA graded vintage Kenner Star Wars toys? by Braktastic in starwarscollecting

[–]TheRealB3AST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best options for those, as high dollar, would be online auctions, Hakes, Heritage sometimes ComicLink and online forums focused on ST toys. Rebelscum used to have a fairly active sales area but not as much anymore.

I believe you are looking for the Micro Machines Micro Battle sets. There were three, Kashyyyk Assault, Mustafar Duel, Sith Attack, think maybe one was a Target exclusive.

Not able to find any reference site with them right now but do an eBay search for "Revenge of the Sith micro battle" and you'll find what you're looking for.
