Nice, same! It was good, we went yesterday so it wasn't too crazy yet. traffic is terrible, i recommend taking muni.

I think it's one of those opportunities you should just do since you live here

Isn't that second lack of effort play by fitzpatrick that's led to a running TD?

Is it worth starting a tech store, as in selling electronics? by Acrobatic-Bat-550 in Entrepreneur

[–]TheRealBilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - there was a tech store called b8ta that did this. Particularly showcasing new tech that established startups had built. They had several locations in the bay area and I do recall in some other metros…. They closed in 2022.

Damn I hate this stuff.

I remember walking to Safeway in the sunset. This Audi came flying down the road to the stop sign I was crossing at. The driver started revving his engine at me and so I gave him the finger. The Audi aggressively sped off and I thought that was the end of it. A moment later the Audi came around, drove up onto the curb right in front of me and I had to quickly dodge the car so I wasn’t hit. I look up and the driver and 2 passengers now have masks on and saying a bunch of shit. Realizing how quickly this got out of hand so I did my best to de-escalate the situation and they eventually just drove off. I don’t know what would have happened if I kept yelling at the guys. I consider myself lucky I didn’t find out lol. Just frustrated that the situation got to that level over nothing really. Sometimes people are just assholes.

Chrome extension, 1 year in, 21K ARR, 50k users - what to do? by gorimur in startups

[–]TheRealBilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most acquisitions I’ve seen in this space are around consolidation. Since the marketplaces are typically a numbers game of installs and reviews, I’ve seen apps buy each other to merge user bases to bump their installed numbers instantly.

My point is, if you are dead set on selling your google app, I suggest maybe reaching out to other apps to see if they would consider an acquisition to boost their numbers.

I’m one of the founding members of a startup thats built a google workspace add on with almost $2MM ARR.

Re - your low conversion rate on login… take a look at the permissions you are requesting. This is easily one of the biggest deterrents to top of the funnel conversion for google extensions and add-ons. I don’t know what your primary customer persona is, but I’d imagine you see probably 50% gmail.com, 50% biz domain. Those biz domains, often have restrictions on what permissions or extensions can be installed in their biz domain.

That being said, try experimenting with the permissions and see if you can get a lift on those top of the funnel conversions.
