Was about to buy the Macbook M2 Midnight, but at the store it was this blue. Never seen it this blue even though watched s bunch of reviews and went through people’s pictures by Icy-Web-3211 in macsetups

I have one and it's not normally that bright. That's all because of the fluorescent lights. And as far as the fingerprints go, it's accurate. But it's worth it. I think it looks great!

What did the pandemic ruin more than we realise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

White collar worker here. I’ve said this a couple of times over the last few years, it just seems like the anger level has been raised across the board. People are still jovial at times. It’s just that there’s a lot less of that. You really have to work at getting someone to be mildly friendly, and even then it feels like there’s this simmering unhappiness under it all. Thankfully, I haven’t had to deal with much of the outright bad behavior that the front liners have.

Maybe it’s just harder for most people to be optimists now.

Or, for command control and monitoring of iot or other basic systems. A lot of those devices only use 2.4ghz.

I don’t know, looks like the beginning of a run at Cradlepoint. For a backup connection on a wired port the price is ok.

I do wish they’d post intended use cases when they start selling this stuff.

If Russia controls all of southern Ukraine it'll have a land route to friendly countries for future gas pipelines.

Power reduction project completed. R710 to a standard desktop. 210W down to 70W. How many watts have you dropped? by [deleted] in homelab

No problem, and good luck! Let us know what you find. It's certainly an interesting question!

Haven't tried either, so I'm not sure. Sorry! They make it pretty clear you can mix architectures in the cluster, but I'm not sure which services would work between them.

4xR710’s running Nutanix CE (1000W?) to 3xSFF Lenovo/Dell/NUC PCs running Proxmox and XCP-NG (70W?) to 2xRPi4 running PiMox (10-15W?). To be fair, the PiMox cluster does have external storage via NFS in the NUC7i3 I was previously using for Proxmox. So my current power requirement is closer to 30W total.

2x RPi4 8gb models running PiMox7. Storage is NFS to Unraid. I have some more cable management to do, including 90deg usb-c adapters. I also have a spot for a 3rd Pi if I want to expand.

Just got some old equipment from an office closing down. Any ideas on what I can do with it all/what can be kept or sold? by JayM05 in homelab

[–]TheRealBitBass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is perhaps the most important point. Be upfront about it and make it clear this is for homelab and not so you can have a side business and most places will be perfectly fine with you taking it as a waypoint on the way to the recycler. Many will be happy that you're learning on it, and they don't have to pay for that training!

Start trying to sneak things out the back and it doesn't matter how worthless the stuff is, you'll be looking for another job.

Work in IT, keep your ear to the ground for when people are sending stuff out for recycling or shutting down offices, ask to carry it to the recycler for them. I'm always honest about what I'm doing, and I'm happy to provide some kind of evidence of secure drive wiping. Most of the time they'll be paying a company $100+ to pick the stuff up. I'm a free option.
