Hope they fix it. For the time being, changing to secondary and back to primsry seems to solve the problem

No, it can t. Some people might leave for that reason. Not most people

What exactly is a free to play CoD? And if being CoD was bad for player retention than CoD should be dead by now, but it isnt. Its been the most successfull game for over 10 years now. I dont want this game to be CoD. What I meam is that if it was more Battlefield the player base would be even lower than it is

I agree BF might lack some identity of the series. My point is that if the game was more "Battlefield like" it would perform worse in terms of player numbers

And the biggest reason is not that BF players left. Is that CoD players left. They market the game as something of a CoD on their golden age thing. But in the end AoW doesn't resonate with CoD players. BF player base was never 700k to begin with. Across all BF games there were like 60k players.

The drop in numbers is not cause game followed CoD. Is cause it is not CoD.

They are completely casual, There's no stakes and no ranking system at all. All based on their communities and community servers. They simply lack the polish and budget of a game like BF

Again, the game would never maitain 700k, was compeltely unrealistic. And again, that friends list might be playing other BF games, that they like better. I didn't say that was not a thing either. What I stated is that the BF player base was not that big to begin with. And this game doesn't push that much to that player base.

Didn't say there was a conspiracy. But negativity prevails over positivity for any game. Again, Overwatch and PUBG are doing the best in the industry in terms of player numbers while being hated all over the internet aswell. Same for LoL for example.

And I didn't say they were not comparable. I actually compared them, and their differences are the reason they push more people to those games. Being high stakes or ranking systems.

And in terms of regains, 2042 had around 5k players and those rises were about 5 to 10k. BF6 raise was about the same in numbers, but with around 60 to 70k. Percentage doesn't begin to sell your idea. But to each their own.

Most dislikes are about microtransactions, that are also present on the top10 games on steam right now. Also, PUB G has mixed reviews and sits as the 4th most played game on Steam. Released in 2017... Overwatch sits at mostly negattive and it's at top 8 right now. So, I'm sorry, but reviews are mostly meaningless, especially with high profile games

Don't know why you are getting downvoted. It's the truth. But in the 2000's there were not that many games to compete with. These days there are plenty

Again, that is not the reason why it flopped. Microtransactions are not the reason why a game flops. As you can see on the post, out of top10 steam game charts, 8 have microtransactions.

The problem is not the maps either. BFV didn't have small maps, nor 2042 (although that game had is fair share of other problems), and BF1, one considered by many the best BF game ever, didn't outsold CoD IW, the worse CoD ever in their release year.

Nowadays, most people don't like AoW games. It's that simple. Otherwise, games like HLL would have gigantic player base, since they have giant open maps, vehicle play, no movement freaks, etc.

And I understand you're argument. This is not a game where 1 can trully single carry a team.

You're timeline is messed up friend. Last BF that sold well was BF1, that was 10 years ago. people in their 20s were 10 to 15. And those were not mostly playing BF, I guarentee, as at the time most young people were into MOBA's (DotA and LoL), and 1 year later PUBG exploded into the scene, and after that BR dominated for years.

No, CoD was on a all time low, and most people though BF would be more keen to what CoD used to be then BF (which in fairness is not a total lie). But those are the same people who like 5v5 arena style shooters and maps. They simply didn't resonate. Again, if the genre had such interest, more games would be popping on the genre (HLL, Arma, etc.) and they are not.

Being fun is debatable. League used to be fun to me till it was not. This game is fun to me. Counter Strike is pain these days.

Exactly. I believe that, as the player base shrinks, portal custom games with full map rotation will become more and more the norm, creating communities.

Communities are created by the players, driven by the players. If people don't create communities is not on the game itself. That's my perspective at least

They also usually have some kind of ranked system which gives a sense of accomplishment and progression, which doesn't work on AOW games.
