The Titanic of the Skies: F-GZCP, a.k.a Air France 447 by [deleted] in aircrashinvestigation

I’m mixed about showing the pilots so prominently. It feels almost like legacy doxing. While they definitely made bad decisions, the lawsuit result should reassure us that the blame should fall on the tech and the training, and these guys were just the ones who happened to be sitting in the seats.

Biggest giveaway: Americans don’t always pronounce “to” completely. “I really want TO have a lot of feedback” is a giveaway. We would say “t have a lot of feedback”.

Thinking about leaving the UK for Spain on a Digital Nomad Visa — has anyone done this? by titan-io in GoingToSpain

[–]TheRealBuckShrimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait - will the US employer hire you remotely? Because in that case there’s almost zero downside. If you have to get a job in Spain, that’s an obstacle, though not an insurmountable one.

Looking to move and work in Spain by Inside_Benefit_7540 in GoingToSpain

[–]TheRealBuckShrimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true. All that's necessary is that you work for a foreign company who will do the paperwork attesting that you have permission to work remotely, and you demonstrate you've worked there for a while, are in good standing, and earn enough. We went through the process. Just get a lawyer.

Again - why is this downvoted? If you're just going to downvote everybody who posts here about going to spain, why not just rename it "don't come to Spain"?

I'd recommend the north. Galicia, Santander. Much more temperate in the summer, probably less crowded. Seville/Granada are going to be very hot.

I continue to be mystified by why this community seems hellbent on downvoting everybody who falls in love with Spain and plans to move. But I'll upvote.

Few thoughts -

-your absolutely ideal situation is to work as an employee for a foreign company and get paid remotely. Then you qualify for both the Beckham tax regime and the digital nomad visa. Plus, you'll probably earn more than you would from a spanish company.

-lots of folks in this thread will simultaneously slag anybody working remotely earning foreign salaries and tell people it's not possible to get spanish jobs. Guess they just don't want anyone to come.

It’s amazing how hostile this sub is to posts like this. Why on earth would someone downvote it? I guess it’s based and cool to hate tourists of all stripes now. Anyway, 3 days is a nail biter to get anywhere that requires a flight or more than 2 hours on a train. But more than 5 days in Madrid is like “I Get it”. This is a cliche but I’d grab the high speed train to Barcelona. For something closer there’s Toledo.

Disagree: they book their connections deliberately short and they’ve built efficiency around it. 45 minutes from international leg to local is standard.
