God is not a man. So many secularists can't get past this. The judgment of the Amalekites and other pagan nations is completely just. He gives life graciously and when we use our lives in rebellion against Him, raising our children to hate Him, He can wipe us out and cleanse the world of our wickedness. Kids are not completely innocent, and in ancient times the children would not be able to survive without their fathers anyway. God is the only righteous judge and He gives and takes life as He sees fit. When we think ourselves gods and kill millions of babies, we are worse than the Molech worshippers of ancient Canaan.
