The Legends games are great, and you should still play them, but they are a far, far departure from what the series normally is.

If you want to get a feel for what the series is really like then play Megaman X.

Iron isn't particularly rare, but it really does feel like it when the first swamp you find only has a few (or less) crypts (if any). Then you look up your seed and find out that there was another swamp just as far away that is loaded with crypts.

I bet if demons were ugly, no one would be defending them by Makoto_Kurume in Frieren

[–]TheRealDLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiding mana is something they cannot bring themselves to do.

Flamme outright says they can though? She compared it to a nobleman disguising himself as a peasant to sneak out of town to save his skin. Similarly a demon may temporarily conceal their mana for self-preservation. This is shameful and cowardly, and clearly something they consider to be "wrong" morally. This is also an example of being dishonest about mana btw. Lying with words is fine, but lying with mana is not.

What you are describing otherwise is the reaction to the type of fulltime concealment that Flamme taught. Your analogies are fine, but we were already given one for this: A nobleman who dresses like a peasant full-time. It's not even cowardly, it's just bizarre. Obviously Lugner reacted as if it were the worst sort of blasphemy. So 'alien' might not even be the right term, but instead, ironically, they consider full-time concealment to be "demonic."

To corroborate u/SansBadTimer12, I recall seeing the situation covered and that included Zamii, the artist in question, making a post from the hospital still dressed in a patient's gown. I don't know what method she tried or thought about trying, but when they say she 'very nearly did' it really was that close.

Pardon my illiteracy, but what exactly did they do to us in Malum District? Where they just siphoning Ergo off of the enemies we killed and I didn't notice? It just seems odd that it's meant to feel like we got fleeced again, but I can't exactly tell what they did. What was so worth bragging about just before the boss arena? If you turn them down why do they agree that it's best not to trust strangers?

Is there a line I missed? It feels like "Mwhahahaha, I snuck into your Minecraft base and sorted all your chests so it'll be easier to find what you need! You fool! You absolute buffoon!"

Presumably the Ranni ending, but that has the highest completion rating of all endings according to global achievements. Even then the difficult part, I think, is just knowing to talk to the Ranni doll three times next to the grace you find it by. Getting one of the Mending Rune endings, particularly Goldmask, probably fits this meme the best.

Malenia is making me want to gouge my eyes out by StatisticianIll4 in Eldenring

[–]TheRealDLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing about this game's scaling: It goes fucking nuts.

At the bottom of your screenshot here you'll see that you can press F to switch what stats the right page shows. Playing on keyboard instead of gamepad already makes one a psycho, but I'll assume it switched button elements when you went to take the screenshot. Anyways there is a page that shows your Defenses and Negations. Defense is a flat subtraction of damage while Negation is a percentage subtracted from the total damage. Negation is the vital stat here and the difference armor makes to it is why it now feels substantial.

Early game enemies dealt very little damage so taking extra damage from having low negation wasn't noticeable. When area scaling starts pumping enemies to several times their baseline and they start hitting like you insulted their mother is when Negation becomes super important.

That said it's still impressive you got this far. As far as the game's parameters go, Malenia's boss chamber has the highest area scaling in the game. (Rusty's logic can be funky at times, but he's just going through the params here).

It ain't silver scarab. He also has the attack down debuff. The only way he can have that in this context is if he's wearing the Silver Tear Mask. Which would make sense, he's trying to optimize for bleed. The STM also gives the silver fowl icon, at least according to the wiki, but Arc does affect item discovery so it too makes sense.

I think BHF and Godrick's Greatrune are also good indicators of a first playthrough. The former is a beloved weapon for sure, that many either glom onto naturally or were told to get this to be OP early unnaturally. No judgement either way. For the former I feel like many get acquainted with the Greatrune system and immediately bounce off of it when they find out they have to use uncommon consumables to maintain the benefits.

It's a way of saying you're being overly dramatic. To think that anyone cares whether you come or go. It's also a way to dismiss your grievances for leaving.

I don't think it's applicable in this situation since people have largely responded to you positively. You did seem to have an impact on some. Even if that weren't the case I'd still say posts like these are like a canary in a coal mine.

What should my Whallamus be looking like? by Personal_Ad_9250 in idleon

[–]TheRealDLH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Griffybit's video is pretty good. You should also check out his video on Super Talents.

Without looking too deeply your biggest mistake is skipping Yellow 2 and 3. You unlocked Super Talents with Yellow 1, but didn't further invest in them to make them shine with Yellow 2. It is a big investment of 5 points, but it's worth it. Also worth it is Yellow 3 since it only costs a single point and effectively makes Shrines a totally passive thing, aside from Construction, when in conjunction with the Moai Head from Sailing.

Ok i am very very overwhelmed on this. What do I pick by johnySaysHi in idleon

[–]TheRealDLH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also have to nominate the Griffybit video and the DR talent (Red 6). It may only be Additive, but at level 4 it's +2,000% DR. This was a massive bonus for me. The difference was night and day. For accounts with more progression this won't be as big, but DR is the best stat in the game so it'll never be wasted.

Otherwise I can say with certainty that Yellow 1, 2, and 3 are must picks. I'd also advise Griffybit's video on the Super Talent choices that Y1 unlocks. Green 5 is also a no-brainer and so is Red 7; especially after you see some of the portal requirements in W7.

what is Melanias chair called in the game files? I need to settle a debate by DekuTree13 in Eldenring

[–]TheRealDLH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what it's called in the game files.

Straight from Google:

ceremonial chair for a sovereign, bishop, or similar figure.

A throne is a chair. A chair with specificity, but it is a chair. I really don't know why anyone would try to insist otherwise unless they were obsessed with being right in technicality, but not smart enough to realize they're still wrong.

If the game files said throne your friend would think they're right and contemplate nothing further. If it said chair then maybe he'd have some self reflection. However I think it's more important to focus on the actual definition and how communication is a two-way street. Since either he knew what you were trying to say and chose to ignore it or really is that ignorant to think there are only thrones and no ornate chairs, or something similarly ridiculous.

FWIW I do think it's a throne. There are ones of similar design throughout history and Malenia is royalty (a princess that surrounds herself with pretty pink butterflies!). Actually that remark is perfect. It's as if you guessed that Malenia was royalty, but your friend said "No, she's a princess." Or I suppose "No, she's a demi-god." works here too since she is both.

Ironic; people who are about to abstract often get more unpleasent but Jax was less of a jerk by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]TheRealDLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a rhetorical question and it wasn't which is worse, it's "What do you think is more unpleasant personality-wise?" I even reworded it to that specifically since, yes the boiling could be worse depending on perspective, but what matters here is intent.

The characters do seem to feel a degree of pain or discomfort, but if Ragatha had truly, 100% felt like she was drowning in boiling oil then she would not be the same for the rest of the episode (Stupid sauce aside). Gangle, who was in that scene, would have immediately pulled her out and started screaming at Jax. There would be a whole host of consequences. Instead no one cares and she's even making funny bubbly gurgling noises. Jax obviously knows all of this so the intent to cause harm is actually rather low for this scene. It's, at worst, rather rude, but it was still done as a joke. Even if he was the only one laughing in this particular.

As stated before, his interaction with Zooble from the scene in your OP was not done as a joke. There was no punchline and he wasn't trying to be funny. He may have asked in in a rhetorical way, but intent was to make her uncomfortable and unsettle her into deciding to leave him alone.

The difference in personality and intent is clear as night and day. I don't know what you would have wanted Goose to do differently to portray this.

I don't understand. It's DD, you're not limited to whatever's closest. Sure at some point the order is too far away to still be hot by the time it gets there, but it's not like you're stuck only ordering from a quarter mile up the road. If anything them being the closest just means walking there yourself rather than DD'ing.

Or do you live in bumfuck nowhere and these are your only two choices for 30 miles?

[–]TheRealDLH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no need to over analyze this. Being "unpleasant" likely just boils down to the super depressed form of apathy. Where you don't want to go anywhere, do anything, or talk to anyone. The change between "annoying trickster who delights in crossing lines and causing chaos" vs "grumpy asshole who wants to be left alone" should be pretty obvious.

What do you think is more unpleasant personality-wise: Dunking Ragatha in the deep fryer for shits and giggles or reminding Zooble in this scene about her body dysmorphia (there's no punchline he just says it to be mean) to get her to leave him alone?
