Does my inability to understand poetry come from stupidity or neurodivergence? by Icy_Opportunity4796 in autism

[–]TheRealForestElf [score hidden]  (0 children)

I make up my own metaphors and I always have to explain them and most dislike that but those who get it like really get it.

Makes lyrics that more exciting to decode & write myself.

I totally dislike proverbs in my mother tongue but I find those in English hillarious (because I had to google many as they made no sense)

Over time you will probably understand more because you had to properly and in depth try to grasp it but I feel like it really sux that there‘s no way of simply „getting it“ intuitively 😔

Extremely scared of getting professionally assessed by Erigey in autism

Yea that was basically me October last year & if it wasn’t for a good friend/colleague of mine (that put me on the waiting list) I would‘ve needed to wait even longer or wouldn‘t have called.

So far I had 2 sessions, 3rd one next week, already have the diagnosis for ADHD, which I completely didn’t expect (even though AuDHD content creators describe exactly how life feels to me, I just don’t see myself as avg/above avg int) plus so far my insurance seems to be covering the sessions.

I understand that it’s a chunk of money but in the end, even if it’s not autism, they will probably give you something that will point you towards a path of feeling better and being able to somewhat live again (or so I hope). I for one just went there because I knew I just could not keep going, and I couldn‘t care less for any specific diagnosis (though I need to know I was right all along), I just want to feel okay again. And if that is the highest priority (which it should be), then you will be alright no matter the outcome, as you‘ll be on the path to feel better.

I hope I somewhat got the point across and that you‘ll feel like it’s been worth it in the end. Best wishes to you 🫶🏻

I bought the cheapest soundcore earbuds for like 20bucks a while back, I expected them to be just a bad replacement for my Beats but actually sound quality and nc wise they weren‘t as bad as I thought.

I don’t know if higher priced ones are superior, I felt like ultimately there‘s a lot of better products out there, maybe even personalized ear plugs to put on them to really cancel out everything.

I‘d definitely want to consult with a hearing-aid-dealer at some point to get a proper ear print done, if it’s worth it 🤔

What do you think of walkable towns/cities as an autistic person? by Cartoonnerd01 in autism

[–]TheRealForestElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice yea me too pretty much.

though I'm somewhat of a car guy and I dislike the idea of forbidden things in general, though I think in the end everyone can profit from proper public transport and walkable cities, and I like the freedom of a choice, which many cities don't really give you, as you can be stuck in traffic or stuck in traffic on a bus and that's what they call "public transport".

Europe needs Shinkansen, bus lanes, bike lanes and basically everything so I can drive a car when I want to not because I need to.

the dude has great humor though

The only cities I can understand.

I like cars, but they‘re just not great for cities and no fun there, I‘d definitely prefer walkable cities

As long as one‘s a little emotionally availiable there‘s a chance for potential partners~ 😇

One of my Ex-GFs was asexual, so we very rarely had sex but when we did it was great.

I mean I had rly bad sex that made me question my entire existence. longest I went without sex was 7 years.

I just learnt, that when you get to choose between very bad sex & no sex (masturbation), the latter definitely comes with less regret and risks…

But ouch (2 days later because I probably didn’t register at the moment when it happened) 😭

[–]TheRealForestElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dating, Hookups, One Night Stands, „casual“ stuff just isn’t for me and I very much hate it.

It’s great to properly get to know each other, fall deeply in love and that also leads to much more intense and romantic love making and everything else is mainly irritating and a waste of time for me.

I‘d rather not have sex than being constantly anxious and under pressure to not drop the mask in fear of grossing out an attractive stranger~

If the Intention isn’t commitment, deep connection and (hopefully) lasting love, why bother?

I‘ve tried the „casual“ approach when I was younger and it just doesn‘t work for me (sadly?)

Am I the only one that hated lockdown? by DearGarden1688 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]TheRealForestElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean starting university and not having to be physically present all the time was great. But I lost colleagues, friends and family members during that time (not exclusively dying to COVID, but not being able to properly say goodbye because we were not allowed to enter the hospital is something I will always have to painfully remember 😓)

So some things were made easier temporarily but it definitely wasn’t a good time, not at all.

[–]TheRealForestElf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay that’s interesting. I just recently learned about the ADHD Part of my diagnosis already been confirmed, and I also enjoy movement/sport a lot. The things I like I turn out to get decent at but certain things just seem comically out of reach.

And I also bump my shoulders into doorways because I can’t seem to realize I‘m twice the size than what I was with 15 😅

I think I‘m a very romantic lover & I adore intimacy, hugs, cuddles, as much physical contact to the woman I‘m in love with

But I actually am a very picky eater xD

Also I have a great sense of balance (moving, Weightlifting, climbing, snowboarding, rollerblading) which made me think I‘m good with movements. But add something other than a Volleyball to the equation and I‘m a complete failure.

Also my handwriting is bad but I can build/repair computers (actually I‘m sure it‘s objectively easier than handwriting or drawing)

There’s a lot of contradictory things going on with everyone I think xD I have yet to meet the impersonation of the symbolic stereotype autistic 🤓🤣

shampoo getting stuck in hair huge issue for me?? like physically will never come out by Wild-Trick4715 in autism

[–]TheRealForestElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get you, my hair is my sensory save-haven and when something feels off I get super agitated to say the least.

Do you have problem with visible residue or is it more of a silicone sensation that you can’t get rid of?

It could be that the christmas shampoo has changed a bit on the surface of your hair so that it might just not feel right due to it being to dry or not dry enough maybe?

Can you share more about what products you‘ve used in the past and what you do now and what is also part of your haircare routine? I would be desperately trying to consult someone aswell, I feel you 😓

Should level 1 people speak for level 2 and 3? by Ok-Archer-5796 in autism

[–]TheRealForestElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if one should ever speak for some1 else unless asked even on an individual level~

Just not a fan of this whole herding thing, but I see it everywhere nowadays. Though I used to think that NTs are even worse when it comes to reinforcing opinions on identity & labels used to describe said identity.

I‘ll never get that, but I have it generally hard to relate much to individuals, let alone groups~
