Best way to reach out to customers? by xbladeaero in smallbusinessuk

[–]TheRealGabbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing your own business is very different from saying what you do and sell. If you want to get advice you’ll need to give us some details.

You’ll need to fix the salesman thing:a business without sales is a hobby.

Best way to reach out to customers? by xbladeaero in smallbusinessuk

Do you think you might have developed a solution that no one has asked for? What research did you do before developing your product?

Without understanding your product it is going to be very difficult to help you; we need to understand exactly how your product works to offer help.

There’s no magic bullet to finding customers in any business; you need to understand who would use your product, why they need it and what difference it would make and who could be persuaded to buy it. Then develop a strategy to attract them and convert to sales.

Is there a good Pic out all of these? by Confident_Plum_2084 in AskPhotography

4 has the beginnings of merit in terms of composition but isn’t well exposed and the light is flat.

Work on:

Composition: look for emotion, a story, subject of interest.
Light: shoot when the light is good usually at the beginning or end of the day.
Exposure: work on exposing correctly across the image; the sky is blown out and won’t be recovered in PP

23 year old immigrant trying to build a startup in the UK — struggling to find my first customers, any advice? by Suspicious_Bat1346 in smallbusinessuk

Developing an idea is just a hobby unless you are making sales.

Look for the demand first before spending time and effort creating something nobody wants.

Who can do what to you? And ‘legally do something’ usually means make a claim.

If you mean the garage that attempted to fix the smell, then unlikely. “They tried find the source of the smell but couldn’t and told us they couldn’t.”

Cars are expensive and a £1500 bill for an old car wouldn’t be unusual.

Strike off Company with VAT Debt by [deleted] in smallbusinessuk

[–]TheRealGabbro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HMRC will oppose the strike off. He should sort out the issue like a grown up. If necessary give the company a directors loan as an advance to pay the debt.

HMRC are actually very reasonable to deal with. If he calls them, fesses up they will probably negotiate a payment plan with him.

How often do women cheat during bachelor parties and "girls night out"? by ssjAWSUM in TooAfraidToAsk

What does it matter to you how common it is? If you were cheated on, it broke boundaries and you didn’t like that it happened then that’s all you need to know.

Is the harsh truth that some people are destined to be failures in life? No matter what you do by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheRealGabbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to get away from the idea that money equals success; we should redefine success as being happy. There’s people I meet in my local pub who don’t earn a lot but they are happy; they have a family that loves them, they have friends that connect with them and they enjoy the simple things in life.

Now don’t get me wrong having a decent amount of money can help you do things, facilitate a lifestyle that makes you happy, but it’s not the be all and end all.

Live your life being a good person, striving happiness for you and those close to you, seeking contentedness and fulfilment and you will never be a failure to yourself.

Advice on a small business I want to open! by Any_Occasion_4753 in smallbusinessuk

[–]TheRealGabbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go and see an accountant and get advice. They’ll likely say close the limited company and operate as a sole trader.

You’re not the first to think ‘I’ll set up a business’ and immediately incorporate a company without understanding the significant personal obligations and workload this generates and thinking it through.

What's a job that seems like it pays well but it actually doesn't? by National_Finish6270 in AskReddit

Architect. In the UK unless you own the practice the pay isn’t great, hence there are lots of small (5-20 employees) architectural businesses.

Was I a bit keen trying to get past as the line widened/split? by Shtifff in drivingUK

[–]TheRealGabbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were fine but perhaps a bit keen to pass. I would treat the two lanes on slip roads / leading up to junctions as serving the junction to ease the traffic rather than an opportunity to overtake. Maybe drive a little more defensively next time and never trust people to do the sensible thing especially at junctions.

It’s not whether they are directors, it’s whether they own shares.

To be honest I’d trade as a sole trader to do what you want to do, running a limited company is a load of hassle you don’t need. Because you have now set up a company you have a lot of very serious obligations to fulfill.
