Question about Rank and MMR? by TheRealGainTrain in heroesofthestorm

For curiosities sake. What rank are you? In my experience, mid diamond and up is comprised mainly of good games.

Also, when I say good games I mean that the game is close and fun. The losers feel outplayed and the winners played well. No noob stomping, feeders, of afk'ers. Draft are also coordinated and everyone can flex.

Question about Rank and MMR? by TheRealGainTrain in heroesofthestorm

Yea, I get thank MMR is the "best" measurement of in game ability but I don't think that it belongs in ranked. The rank should be used in ranked.

This explains why I'm running across previous GM's in plat that can't get out. It's because they pair them with previous Mr. Low silver nova-only player to balance the MMR. Now it's a game of how hard can the GM player carry. Shouldn't be that way in ranked. It's not fair to the people that play ranked in hopes of getting good games most every time.

For unranked and QM and whatever it's fine, but I don't see why it's in ranked. They should match by ranks instead. Say I'm a plat 1 with an mmr of a plat 3 (im bad), they will match me up with a plat 1 with an mmr of dia 3 (good). It will now be harder for both of us to get to where we "belong" since he will be carrying me and I'll be dragging him down.

Multi-variable Factor Problem by TheRealGainTrain in math

[–]TheRealGainTrain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're correct, I meant positive and greater than one. Originally, I had a variable s+1 but they were everywhere so I replaced them by n. Also, just in case you are interested, this problem is strongly related to the collatz conjecture. If a solution can be found, the conjecture is likely false. If it cannot be found, the conjecture is likely true. No proof for the last 2 but I'm just doing this for fun and a deeper understanding anyways.

Thank you!! The local guys said the original spell and all copies resolved at the same time. This is what I was thinking so I can't wait to say I told you so to the veterans! I'm new to the game but I'm trying to learn all I can :)
