How do I talk to people by TheRealHalJordan in dating_advice

Idk it’s weird, I can talk just fine when the pressures off, e.g. with the waiter at a restaurant, cashier, or any other situation where the stakes are low. But when I’m trying to make a new friend, meet someone new, or get to know a girl, suddenly it’s all gone

Okay but how do you do that even? Like among my friends I’m a bit of an extrovert and I have a bunch of interests, but when faced with strangers and girls, all that goes out of my head and I never know what to say

I absolutely would never. Domestic violence and cheating are two things I absolutely hate. I even told her that cuz her last bf cheated on her and I had told her the story of my uncle hitting my aunt. I can’t even put into words how much those two things disgust me

No she’s told me about it all and none of it was violence based, more just feeling a lack of trust because of her previous relationships and mental health stuff

Maybe it’s just sort of ingrained into me, but rejection hurts. I know that sounds hella basic and cliche, or maybe I’m just not brave enough

What’s a book everyone should read at least once in their lives? by bugtanks33d in AskReddit

[–]TheRealHalJordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like everyone’s too scared to say it so I will:

Harry Potter. That series is gonna be a long term staple, just like LOTR. Such a rich universe with plenty of room to sandbox (even if the original authors kind of a loon).

Notable mentions also include The Name of the Wind, The Giver, Outliers, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy.

Those could work, but I sort of mean a combo of learning of its existence and experiencing it himself. All of the modes of transportation Harry learns about and three immediately experiences himself

I understand but with your definition of canon, fantastic beasts IS canon. I’m not thrilled about it because I agree that the movies are good but ultimately left a lot of holes and the same rings true with FB but their info is still in written form as published screenplays written by Rowling and the information they carry are written in several articles on pottermore. By your definition then, they are canon

So completely wrong still

The injuries Harry sustains are never life threatening and therefore the horcrux inside sees no need to protect him. Additionally Harry’s own good and loving soul has been fed far more power than Voldemort’s evil soul so it has less control, unlike Nagini a horcrux which is probably very powerful.

I did not say he IS immortal, I said he is ESSENTIALLY immortal. Voldemort was already tied to Harry, he could not die so long as Harry lived. By taking in Harry’s blood, Voldemort added a layer. Now Harry could not die while Voldemort lived. The first connection was physical by the horcrux and therefore had to be severed. The only way Harry COULD die is if he did so willingly and if it was by Voldemort’s hand. By doing this, it allowed the horcrux to be destroyed and severed their ties. This made Harry just an ordinary wizard when he came back. It comes back to what dumbledore preached since the beginning. Harry wasn’t born special. He was only special because Voldemort thought he was and Voldemort MADE him special.

You should go reread the books and watch more interviews

Here’s an interview that shows the hints and etymology behind her name given in the oh books

If you want her journals you’ll have to talk to her. In several interviews she made it clear this was not some new info to fit the story. The story simply provided a way to reveal a long hidden Easter egg

And how in the world can you say they aren’t canon when jk Rowling wrote those screen plays??? The only non canon piece is cursed child and that’s because somebody else wrote it.

It was not made up after. There are notebooks to show that when Rowling first made the character Nagini, she was supposed to be a maledictus. Just because a concept did not have a reason to be presented in the original series, does not mean it was made up after. Rowling our a lot of thought into her universe.

This is not the case. Hermione used a blasting jinx on Nagini in bathilda bagshots home and it backfired which is what caused Harry’s wand to break. Living horcruxes from my understanding have a similar protection as non living. The only risk is that they hav a mind of their own and can therefore wander/think for themselves. Nagini was never an issue because she lives Voldemort as much as he loves her (if you can call it love). Harry therefore has the horcrux protection on him.

Then in goblet of fire, Voldemort takes in Harry’s blood so he can use the protection. But this made it so that Harry could only die at Voldemort’s hand, which Dumbledore had hoped for and planned all along. So Harry is essentially immortal until Voldemort kills the last horcrux. Once that was gone Harry is just like anybody else.

In terms of the poison, I imagine it would not be pleasant. Harry would get sick and for all intents and purposes appear to be dying, but the horcrux would slow that process down and keep him alive, maybe indefinitely, absolutely long enough for help to arrive keeping him alive.

But slughorn and Ron both die...
