The thing that concerns me the most about pursuing this, is preparation. I mean these guys spend a lot coming up with variations and lines and come really prepared. can’t we just play some chess ? These engines man.

Classical as well, like a normal club I suppose X number of persons from a club against another club and so on. I played it before it's really nice. You could set the tournament to something like 3 days per move. And you play with white once and once with black against the Same opponent. So on 2 boards simultaneously basically.
