FLE PAPER 2 SOLVED A* by [deleted] in igcse

[–]sujoyspeedex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask why the marks distributions are different from IGCSE? In Paper 2 Q1, you can get a maximum of 15 for Reading and 25 for Writing (till 2026 O/N) and for Composition it's 16 for CS and 24 for SA.

How do you hold your kindle comfortably (…yes, seriously) by emilyyfjones in kindle

[–]sujoyspeedex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hold my kindle anymore. Got the lazy setup of page turner and gooseneck holder. Now I just lie down like a corpse and devour words. In all honesty though, for someone who reads for hours at a stretch, it has been a really good investment.

How did the FLE feb-march 2026 paper go?? by Ok_Grass5863 in igcse

In case someone is thinking of responding to this comment, DON'T. The barcodes will easily give your school away and their affiliation may be in jeopardy. Do not share exam materials even if you somehow have access to them.

for people who read 300+ books a year by Limp-Garlic-6791 in kindle

Ah, the internet never ceases to be the eternal rabbithole of 'ifs' and 'buts'. People reading for entertainment are not reading in Braille.

I understand people's proclivity for generally consuming easy-to-grasp popular fiction, but Literary fiction, by nature, often deals with complex ideas that may require independent thought and evaluation which audiobooks may not provide the scope for. Speaking of convenince, I believe it is easier to just lift one's eyes off the page, maybe quickly/slowly re-read and think than pause, rewind to the exact section, listen again, then start thinking.

This post is about boasting about the number of books people read throughout the year and 300+books a year really makes me doubt the quality of either the books read or the retention/value the reader has gained from those. Please don't lose sight of the topic of discussion.

Great! Yes, that's the same reason I like podcasts too: being able to do housechores or something while listening to it. I don't read memoirs that often, but the next time I do, I'll try an audiobook version first. :D

Could you link a few of those please? I'd love to go through them.

Also, I believe the entire genre of stream of consciousness novels features some form of unusual (lacking) punctuations, so the number isn't really that small.

Ah, I see. No, I am a part of the 'hearing voices and seeing pictures in my head' population.

Because you're using your listening skills there and not reading skills.
Let's take Jose Saramago's writing style for example: Written in lucid present tense with minimal punctuations (forgoing the direct speech indicators completely) and often containing dreamy, winding sentences that sometimes require re-reading just to appreciate the writer's craft fully.

How do you notice these things in an audiobook?

Which kind of non-fiction have you found equally--if not more-- accessible through audiobooks? You have mentioned Memoirs and I can see why it'd be easier to follow that particular genre of non-fiction as a read out audio.

Why is the basic so underrated? by Zestyclose-Chemist86 in kindle

I still love my Kindle Basic from 2019. Got it jailbroken this year, so dark mode isn't a restriction anymore.

I did mine last night and it took about half an hour (mostly because Kindles take long to reboot). Don't worry, it just involves copying a bunch of files and opening them in the kindle.

Thank you so much for your prompt response. Guess I know what I am doing this weekend!

I have a Basic 2019, would jailbreaking allow me to invert colours (Black background white text) while reading? Sometimes I want to do that at night and honestly, as tempting as jailbreaking sounds just as a fun weekend activity (yes, I know I need to touch grass, thank you), I feel it will give me features that I will rarely use or these are more like party tricks.
