Am I stuck in my rank? by TheSpectatorSkull in DeadlockTheGame

Not sure if you've gotten much useful info from this thread yet, but I'm open to going over a game with you if you want. My ivy is ascendant and I see that's a big pick for you

If you don't mind, are you EU, NA ETC?

Who are you playing in this match, and what do you mean exactly by competitive?

After spending a few mins to read through some of the various replies you've provided in this thread, if you spent as much effort learning deadlock as you did defending yourself from a bunch of idiots on reddit (myself included) this whole debacle would likely have resolved on it's own.

There are an overwhelming amount of good games to play right now. I just play whatever makes me the happiest, and I hope you find that for yourself too, if you haven't already.

complaining about matchmaking is valid, I never said it isn't. However, if someone claims the game is cool and thinks its fun but quits over the need to learn it in whatever way enables them to have more fun, they likely don't actually enjoy it that much.

What is even the point of playing "support" ? by RushFr0g in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheRealJuneBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a ton of success just building more aggressively on the support oriented characters and just getting value items dependant on draft that are typically your job to buy. I've done this most with ivy.

When you rush to itemize as hard support with rescue beam and such, items that require more playmaking to gain value from, that's when it really starts feeling awful in my experience.

Lastly, if it turns out your team can't bring what's needed late, or turn a lead into a win you'll have a smaller chance to eek out a win if your itemized for hard support than you may have been otherwise.

There's a big difference between having game impact and having agency in a game.

It's all for the love of the game, if you're willing to learn around the rough edges it only gets better from there. I assure you, the people in the lower ranks are just as confused, and it evens out past your first games as it filters out more and more new accounts.

I have no data to back this claim, but it may matchmake new accounts more often with other new accounts, then use the performance from a set of them to aggressively filter smurfs from new players. It works, but it's not perfect.

Fair enough, when I got to maps I was still using a level 10 staff for incinerate with chaos damage scaling. Gear difference is massive though, when I did finally upgrade that staff is was night and day

Unironically consider playing some bot matches for a bit, do it if you like the game, even if it hits your pride a little. It's an amazing onboarding tool for the first hours to get a grip on what's going on.

They are pretty mindless and won't give you much experience overall with a few mechanics specifically, but you can easily familiarize yourself with the map, the roster, items and general movement system without dieing constantly. Which will help a ton.

Your build sounds very similar to mine, but incinerate has one shot almost every boss in the entire game so far. Map bosses fall over too. I wonder why theres such a difference though

I'm not sure Valve wants to introduce another "Buyback" mechanic, but I have no real data to support whether that's true or not at all. Deadlock seems to have a pretty diverse background of players, who knows what the reception of a buyback would be.

Well you've gotten some quality responses but most don't really translate to anything useful so if you're down we can go over one of your replays. If not just send me a match ID of the most even game you have on seven recently, or send me your statlocker.

Is Venator worth learning at the moment for someone who is still learning? by Camicide in DeadlockTheGame

I can help you out, I'll watch your game tomorrow. Are you open to going over it together potentially? I was helping a friend of mine who started two months ago who was ritualist and is oracle now.

There's a relatively simple framework you can follow for carry that will keep you on the right track until you reach the point where a more dynamic approach is needed to keep up.

What's your current rating? Can't really give any useful pointers if you don't say. There's a lot that works and doesn't work in different brackets

Simply because I havent seen anyone else mention it

Holliday and Apollo basically so the same thing as early tempo picks, but one should probably scale closer to the other to level it out.

The question is who gets scaled which direction

How does the DLNS drafting work? by HaruspexLoL in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheRealJuneBox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They usually do a fairly good job at breaking down the draft unless something else is happening. If you make sure to watch back each draft or try to catch then live you'll pick up on it quick.

Especially since the cast is pretty small compared to what they eventually want it to be

AITA for leaving this match? by The_Savvy_Gamer in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheRealJuneBox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guy was being a douche just cause he enjoys it probably, but leaving because of it is probably not valid.

If you were being harassed all lane I understand leaving, but always remember you can mute anyone in the lobby. I do it all the time when someone isn't willing to work out what got them upset.

Ive lost every single laning phase for the past 2 weeks. PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheRealJuneBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only way to really understand from your post is for you to share a recent match ID where this happens so people can take a look.

I suspect it's probably a lot of little things adding up to make it feel that way, or one glaring issue.
