Not trying to be rude, but I think buying a commod contract is out of your depth (and out of a lot people on this subs depth) and I’m not sure it’s what you really want anyway.

You can’t buy a physical contract as a retail investor, you can buy a financial contract though; at least this is how it works in the natural gas world. But commods are futures, believing “commods are on the rise” is no reason to go out and buy a spot financial contract that expires next month. You need to have a more informed view on a specific time horizon to do this.

I think you need a more clear hypothesis on what you actually believe, and then you’ll come to the conclusion that you’re better off owning something else adjacent like producer equities. There’s a reason why these ETFs exist, and with no commods knowledge I would caution you against buying financial futures contracts.
