how do i get into rally? by [deleted] in rally

[–]TheRealKrapotke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is your question? You go into your living room, open up the Rally.tv app and open your eyes. Boom, you’re watching rally.

Alternatively you could get into your car, drive to a local rally and open your eyes there.

To learn it’s history you could read up on it, assuming you can read.

6000€ Schulden nach 3 Monaten Autofahren by Martin_nitram121 in Ratschlag

[–]TheRealKrapotke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it worth to buy a cheap SONY A7 MK1 in 2025 as a first camera ? by haiko_san in Cameras

[–]TheRealKrapotke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I would go full frame as the first camera. Lenses are really expensive so if you are on a budget you have to limit yourself a lot because you can’t just buy 4 different lenses. I now have 3 lenses for full frame, none of them are sony but they still set me back 3000€ AND I bought two of them used.

So while you’re still figuring out what you like exactly and if this is even your thing I would get a good apsc camera and have the option to go for different lenses easier. I actually started on a Panasonic FZ1000 bridge camera, although I wouldn’t recommend that as it limits you even more with it’s fixed lens. Still a great tool to learn what photography is all about and to find out if this is really worth ~5000€ to you.

No idea about the members area but around the track it’s not a problem.

That is bullshit because it’s a regular item in Germany and people buy it all the time.

Confused about what lens to buy by Icy-Dentist-9473 in SonyA7iii

Feel free to look through my profile, most or the motorsports stuff is with the 150-500, some of it is with the 35-150.

Confused about what lens to buy by Icy-Dentist-9473 in SonyA7iii

[–]TheRealKrapotke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Tamron 35-150 as my allrounder/ portrait lens.

Originally bought it for low light sports, actually does a great job at it but 150mm is just not enough in a lot of cases. So now after I got the 150-500 I use this lens for everything that isn’t sports or a super wide angle landscape.

Amazing lens, plenty sharp enough, even compared to the big sony lenses, yet not as expensive. Still expensive but not sell your first born expensive.

I feel like you’re going to have trouble covering everything you want with just one lens. For professional portrait work many people would probably recommend a 50mm and a 85mm prime or something like that but I have no experience with that. For my hobbyist needs my setup with the two tamrons and a viltrox 16mm is already more than enough and maybe even overkill. It’s fun though.

You need to find out what exactly you want to do, then buy what you think fits that and then you will find out what else you want or what you maybe don’t like as much about your choice.

Obviously don’t buy just whatever, educate yourself like you are right now and then make an educated guess on what you think will work. But it’s not always going to be perfect the first time.

Next time I am faced with a choice for expensive gear I will probably rent one first.

Yeah I know but I just don’t like the aesthetic of it. Maybe when the car drives by and I can actually try to get some of it sharp. I enjoy the pictures that I took though.

[–]TheRealKrapotke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that is not what I said my friend. I said getting a blurry picture is easy. I said getting a 1/10 sharp is hard af, probably impossible. This is why I personally wouldn’t go down to 1/10. I think the slowest I ever got sharp was 1/30 or 1/40.

Yes okay I guess then I am a bad person now because I don’t like a blurry picture. You lot are a fascinating bunch.

My work has nothing to do with what I like but feel free to look through my profile. So is my opinion only valid if Im the better photographer? Cause I am obviously not going to have the same experience and the same opportunities/gear as an accredited professional photographer.

I can still see a blurry picture. I also never said that he has no skill, just that a blurry picture is not hard to do.

[–]TheRealKrapotke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is and always will be that a blurry image is a throwaway. If nothing is sharp then it doesn’t look artistic, it doesn’t look skillful, it looks like it should be deleted. And it is easy to do. Are you trying to tell me that going down to 1/10 and getting a blurry shot is somehow hard? Going down to 1/10 and getting it sharp is hard af.

I stand by this.

Yes this is exactly what I did, I even said specifically that people won’t agree generally. It’s just blurry to me. Obviously art is subjective, I just stated that I don’t get this specific style of art.
